New Yarmouth Rum Artesanal Jamaica Rum 2009

"What an ester bomb," is the running theme here — a New Yarmouth 2009 pot-still packed with pineapple, ripe banana, glue and nail polish over marzipan and cookie dough. At 65.7% the heat is well tucked in; several tasters call it creamy and even sipping-friendly. A touch of oak and a salty, astringent bitter edge round it out.

Wild, fruity New Yarmouth ester bomb A loved wild-and-funky NY 2009: fruity, glue-heavy, marzipan finish, with alcohol integrated well for the strength. The catch is a salty, astringent bitterness some find edgy and unharmonious.

Very nice bottling out of the New Yarmouth 2009 range with high intensity on the nose and palate. Classic cookie dough notes with sweetness and some fruits. For me actually even a bit better than the RA single cask bottling. Also looking into some other 2009 casks, this bottling really shines. For me the high intensity and density both on the nose and palate put this one in the very top.

Taste like full taste, alcoholic but rounded blend of DOK and young NY

Some people are already familiar with the 2009 vintage of New Yarmouth. For my part, I like these bottlings. In direct comparison to the 2009 New Yarmouth from TWJ, this RA is much wilder, has more funk and a much longer finish. I like it a little more. Second tasting (+4 points)

super brilliant part, mMn better than the first JNY of RA. Alcohol is clearly better incorporated and taste it has become much more complex and milder, flavors of nuts, cookie dough

After some rum break started with proven. Find this mixture of brine and ester what I find here today just great. Am not sure how the rum has changed in the meantime, but I should drink more of it 😅In the blind tasting not recognized but this drop has such a complexity since it needs its time. Has mighty power and reverberates. Great cinema! At the nose you have to pass but first 😄 but then you can go on the trip! 😋Very nice bottling that shows typical ester and glue notes. Slightly astringent on the palate. As far as actually good - very good Jamaica standard. Here knows then especially the beautiful, slightly salty finish with some marzipan and fruity creaminess to convince.

Top!!! A little less funky than the first edition. Nice and fruity, marzipan and shortbread. I really like the younger, wilder NY's ... Still one of the best NY's especially in terms of PLV... those were the days 😩

Edit: After a long time, finally back in the glass and still amazing. What an awesome ester bomb. New Yarmouth is really my thing, I think. Thanks to Mariano56 for the last sample, that was the bottle kill! Luckily, thanks to this forum, I was lucky enough to get another bottle. Thanks again for that.

New Yarmouth

Avg Rating 8.7/10 96 Rums

New Yarmouth is Jamaican rum's best-kept secret. There are almost no photos of it, it makes Wray & Nephew White, the island's best-selling rum, and it is one of only three distilleries that can reach the highest esters. Collectors only really discovered it through aged 1994 vintages, which have become some of the most surprising rums on RumX.
