Eminente Reserva 7 ans
Most tasters land on the same take: a soft, easy Cuban with vanilla, caramel, coffee and dark chocolate, and a short finish. Newer drinkers call it a great first step; enthusiasts often find it a touch thin and one-note at 41.3%. A few notice sweetness, one member the "smooth Cuban style." Roasted nuts and a little woody-tobacco edge round it out.

Soft, sweet Cuban with coffee and vanilla Well-liked as a gentle, everyday Cuban sipper full of vanilla, caramel and coffee. The common gripes: short finish, a bit thin, and not much complexity for seasoned palates.

Sweet and smooth but has a good character of roasted notes, spice and chocolate. Maybe not the most dynamic or complex but it is very enjoyable to drink neat. I could see myself getting through a good amount of this very easily.

Review by Gunnar Böhme "Bauerngaumen" 🤓
I only gave the rum 52 points last year, but now, after tasting it again, I have to correct myself upwards. I find the rum very inviting, especially on the nose, with pleasant vanilla. On the palate, it cannot deny its origins, a typically Cuban rum, but unfortunately, as a state-bottled rum, it is also typically relatively weak on the chest (a decisive difference to most independently bottled rums from Cuba). Originally only produced for export, the rum is now also to be offered domestically, although it is questionable which Cuban can afford such a bottle. Of course, the bottle (made of Mexican glass) is a real eye-catcher! Another plus point. Update 2025-10-25: If you are offered the rum at a hotel bar, as I was, you can confidently accept the offer. You will hardly find a better rum at a hotel bar (at least not in Germany). The only thing missing is a spicy cigar 😉 Another 2 points up to 75.

Very pleasing nose, the toast aromas with vanilla and dried fruit are really pleasant. The picture continues on the palate, with a very rounded profile, even if the aromatic complexity remains manageable. The alcohol makes a brief appearance, but is quickly embedded in the sweet and fruity spectrum. Has potential, further years of ageing will definitely help.
Review by Godspeed
A connoisseur’s cuban from a recent but very capable brand that requires some knowledge. This is a rum that seeks to replicate the 19th century profile of cuban rums (as opposed to the more famous early 20th century ones). Notably this rum is 70% aguardiente and 30% molasses. Aguardiente if you dont know is a cane brandy produced from repeatedly heating previously fermented cane juice. You get a taste profile with similarities to cachaca but with the aging and cuban expertise and flair applied here making it far better than what you might imagine from that. The taste is light-bodied but still sharp and dense, benefitting from time and some water to develop. An excellent sipper and a beautiful collabo between the cuban govt and LVMH. A little gem for those who know their rum history.
Review by crazyforgoodbooze
surprisingly good and harmonious cubaner! not too thin, nice and unusual notes of balsamico, sherry, dark walnuts and prunes! for me currently one of the best cubans on the market, could only be a few € cheaper. Does really well in a daiquiri as well as an old Cuban.
Review by cigares
Review by Michael Schillheim
Pleasant nose, spicy, coffee, vanilla, chocolate and nutty. Very mild on the palate, the alcohol kicks in a little at the end. Peppery, woody, rusty. The medium-long finish is a little bitter. I gave it 7.4 points at the first tasting. Today a slight increase of 0.2 points.
Review by TheRhumhoe
A very traditional Cuban rum, with roasted notes of coffee, chocolate, walnuts and hazelnuts, caramel and a hint of fruit. The palate is very smooth, concentrating on the light, spicy, roasted profile found on the nose. The finish is rather short, sweet and clearly lacking in character. A very linear and commercial rum, which relies on LVMH and packaging to be eye-catching. Still, it's a first step for beginners wishing to detach themselves little by little from the sugar overdose of doctored rums.

Review by RumTaTa
Tasted during the RumX Eminente tasting. Somehow stronger than the Gran Reserva No1 but not as versatile as the latter. A good Cuban with much more character than the usual suspects.
Review by Lennart Hofeditz
Very nice Cuban rum which for me is the perfect balance between Havana Club rums and Santiago de Cuba (e.g. the 11 Años). It's very balanced and you can taste the Spanish style of caramel and sweetness but also the typical Cuban taste. It also has some floral flavor.
Review by Leo Krüper
Sehr süß und rund. Angenehmer Sipper. Pssst sicher auch super zur Zigarre.

Beautiful fruit notes no sugar.I was never a fan of Cuban rums. But I like this one very much.unfortunately too thin. A few percent more would be desirable here
Review by Timo Groeger

Coffee and milk chocolate. Tasted with Bühlertaler village cheese. For Cuban rums at a very high level.
Review by LukaŽiga
7,8:On the nose, it opens lightly, both fruity-pear, pineapple, apple, passionfruit and floral, with fine woody notes. The oak provides a hint of roasting, delivering aromas of roasted, caramelized nuts. Mild spices like vanilla are enhanced by other fine spices. Aeration takes us further into the wood fiber, with a very elegant American oak barrel. The vanilla and coconut are just right, delicately wrapped in a case of blond tobacco. The fruit has matured considerably, and is now reminiscent of mirabelle plums oozing with sugar or a sweet white wine-sauternes . 7,7:On the palate, the attack is balanced from the outset, between toasty oak and marshmallow-like soft fruit. The palate is quite dry, sauternes notes linger on, even bitterness is noticed. Pepper and wood join forces on the tongue mid-palate, clove shows up. This liveliness gives way to a softer, vanilla woodiness. 7,8:The finish is roasted and delicious, fruity, with a hint of mocha.

Very nice, not too sweet but still enough. Floral and caramel scent, chocolate taste

Finally got around to try the Eminente taste set! This reminds me of other cuban rums I've tried, but with a longer and deeper taste. I got some sweetness in the nose, and hints of dark chocolate, which is also present in the notes, along with caramel and vanilla
Review by Agricoler

Amazingly smooth with a long and warming finish lots of coffee and custard notes
Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
This one was a very nice surprise because you get a lot for your money. A bit too much on the sweet side for me, but still good none the less. The nose is fruity with smoky wood, caramel, nuts, chocolate and vanilla. The palate is light, oily and sweet with fruits, smoky wood, vanilla, caramel, chokolate. The finish is short to medium and sweet smoky wood and dried fruits. Too sweet for me but probably a very good beginner rum because it also has the smooth Cuban style to it.
Review by Korkennase🥃
The nose is caressed by chocolate, caramel, young wood, green apple and toasted aromas. The taste captivates with prune, spice, wood, caramel and sweetness. The finish is short and on the palate you notice pepper, wood, coffee, walnut and sweetness. Nice rum for beginners🥃

Diesen Rum sollte jeder einmal verkosten.

Leichter Rum, easy sipping.
Review by Serge

Very pleasant rum, greedy and very balanced

Review by MarcT
Second part of the Eminente tasting. After the younger version I expected more fruity Impact from the aguardiente, but it mostly comes out with its intensity. I get loads of wood, roasted nuts, cocoa... I think good value for its money, somewhere in the middle of each the younger and the older version in some aspects. Paradoxically I have more wood on my tongue here than on the older version, and I think the Aguardiente would make this work well in a cocktail.

Just briefly by the way.Nose: a bit flat, clear at only 41%. Green apple, citrus, vanilla and some caramel. Slightly metallic, typical Spanish stem. Palate: quite flat, caramel, metallic acidic, vanilla.Very short finish.Very accessible entry level rum. Not entirely bad for a Cuban, but much too diluted and much too Spanish for me.
Review by Felix Reiber

Review by primus

Tóny vanilky, ovoce, příjemné sladkosti a lehké dřevitosti. Úplně rozbouří chuťové buňky...
Review by V. Chbrd
Review by Martin Spooner
Angenehmer Geruch.

A very balanced profile of dried fruits, spices, sugar and a bit of vegetal notes. A pleasant surprise.

Well after the 3yo Amber Claro we are certainly getting somewhere. Still it lacks some complexity and depth.
