Long Pond Plantation Extreme No. 4 ITP 2000
Surprise here is how soft a 20-year Long Pond can drink: the four years in Cognac casks round off the edges, so you get flambéed pineapple, banana, strawberry and honey before the funk shows up. The 52% is well integrated, just a small bite up front. Several tasters loved it but found it a touch too sweet and not hugely complex.
- Tropical fruit, strawberry
- Well-integrated ABV
- Balanced oak

How does Long Pond Plantation Extreme No. 4 ITP 2000 taste?
Aggregated from 16 community reviews.
Soft, fruity, lightly funky aged Long Pond Most find it fruity, balanced and easy-drinking for the age, with light Jamaican solvent and a coffee finish. The common gripe: a little too sweet and honeyed, not a complexity monster.

Review by Per Iversen
The nose is very lively and starts with an extremely fruity profile of flambéed pineapple, banana, juicy pear, and lime zest. It then evolves into wax, rose, camphor, and walnut. The palate is similar to the nose with deep notes of molasses followed by cooked apple with spice notes such as nutmeg, curry, vanilla, and herbal notes such as sage and lemongrass. It then becomes a little sour, very dynamic with chocolate, bitter orange, figs, sweet popcorn, and peppermint notes.

The alcohol bites at the first sip but soon after releases an explosion of taste. This is something new and still real Jamaican with the funk. Very well balanced and harmonic in the oak vs other flavours. You're probably going for seconds on this one.

Review by Christopher Morrison
