Dillon XO Rhum Vieux 12 Ans
Sip this one neat with a few minutes of air — it needs to open up. Members find green apple, citrus and candied sugarcane on the nose, then a fruity, lightly vegetal palate with cocoa, coffee and vanilla over dry oak. One taster called it a good bottle to warm people up to agricole after a harsher first try. Round, gentle, dry but not aggressively so.

Rhum Agricole with top value for money!

Good value for money. This Dillon was the one that made me increase my Dillon shelf. The nose is rather sharp with aromas of chocolate and hints of fruit, wood and spices. At the palate it’s complex, round, woody, sweet and smooth with flavors of chocolate, vanilla and coffee.

Tasting evening at Dr.Django: This Agricole from Dillon is too much on the perfumed floral side for me...on the nose as well as on the palate...there is also an artificial side to the palate. The finish is relatively short and unspectacular

Tasted blind, so I wasn't influenced by the low price of the bottle. First RumX community meeting in Acht. A festival of fruit on the nose, tropical fruit, yellow fruit, peach and cedar wood. The fruit is very present on the palate too, tutti frutti with a vegetal, dry herb side that's much more pronounced than on the nose. A surprisingly long, fruity finish. An extremely pleasant, richly-flavored fruit salad rum. Incredible quality for the price.

A very sweet smell enriched with honey awaits you. On the palate then a classic Agricole profile, very soft. Short finish. A very good Agricole for the price.
Review by Leo Krüper
Wow. Impressive with the 40%. Super velvety and full-bodied. Great older Agricole with lots of sweet tea and grass notes.
Review by Gregor
Typical Agricole representative for me. But nothing particularly exciting or complex.
Review by ChristophFFM
Light and balanced. A bit of sharpness, vegetal and a bit of cocoa in the taste. An easy sipper. Reminds me of Clement 10, just lighter and less oily.

#4736 10.06.2024 Relaxing withe a few samples at home. Nose Fresh, wood, light roasted, spice, pineapple, ginger, light mango, faint caramel. Palate Fresh, balanced, fruity, light vegetal, wood, faint smoke, spice, cardamom, faint ginger, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, chocolate, faint coffee, light pineapple, faint caramel. A very well balanced release that just needs time in the glass to really open up.

Tasty agricole, but it probably won't be quite my category

Excellent value for money! 12 years for 42€ on an agricole is a gift! Drinks very well with its little vanilla side but also salty. Now that it has opened up, it's great.

Summer again. Looking forward to the light freshness of an Agricole. Dillon is mild and practically calls for a lime zest for a petite punch. I usually skip the sugar. But you can also drink it well without lime. The important thing is summer.

8,3:On the nose, candied sugarcane, herbaceous, flowery, wood with nuts, pastry, spicy, dry, citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the cane is sweet with honey, some apples arise, as vanilla. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is very rich, but balanced with sugarcane juice, flowery, herbaceous, fresh with tea, later mineral and slightly waxy, delicious fruits like mirabelle plums, dried apricots, the wood is slightly roasted with pastry, nuts, spicy with vanilla. 8,3:The finish is long, dry and tannic, the sugarcane is flowery, herbaceous, fresh with tea, earthy and mineral, the fruits are yellow and dried, mirabelle plums especially delicious, as the wood is slightly roasted with caramel, dark chocolate, spicy..

The nose is powerful, flattering. Caramel, vanilla, wood: the notes are pushed quite far. It promises a lot. The palate: drier than I expected, but still indulgent. You find vanilla, caramel, and wood. The finish is average. Wood and tannins, a bit of caramel and licorice (!) remain. A must-have in the bar considering its price (40 to 45€), which I imagine comes from its image deficit (mass-market brand, price, packaging). But at this price, it occupies the 45€ rum territory by creating a benchmark, a reference. Not necessarily for 'big nights' but for 'every night'.

Incredible value for money. An old traditional Martinique rum at this price and quality, it’s validated every day!
Review by Korkennase🥃
This Rhum Agricole has a very inviting nose and is complex. The taste is strong, fruity, spicy and a bit woody. The finish is long, dry, spicy, grassy, sweet with a slight bitter note. This Rum Agricole is quite accessible and can be enjoyed neat 🥃. Good value for money.

My first Dillon. An exceptional quality/price ratio.
Review by Tim
A really rounded and pleasant rum, an Agricole XO from Martinique at a very good price! Rounded mix of caramel, chocolate and fruit. On the nose very distinct green apple. Here and there floral Agricole notes. Dry in the mouth, but it is moderate.
Review by Morgan Garet
A pure old agricole rum, simple and terrifically effective par excellence. The nose very fruity between citrus, green apple and tropical fruits on a slightly woody and vanilla background. On the palate we stay on the same notes with the sugar cane well present. Very indulgent despite the dryness of the agricole. At the end of the palate a slight bitterness not unpleasant comes to pep it all up. Clearly a success as often at Dillon (a brand underrated in my opinion). A quality/price ratio rarely matched especially these days...
Review by TheRhumhoe
A 12-year-old rum that offers a beautiful tasting experience for a quality/price ratio that defies all competition. On the nose, the candied cane is adorned with honeyed notes, beautiful notes of citrus and apple, and a dry but well-blended spicy woodiness. On the palate, the attack is carried by gourmand notes of coffee, cocoa, and vanilla, to which are added a fine woodiness, sugar cane, and a touch of mirabelle. It is a balanced and very enjoyable ensemble. The finish goes into very different registers: tea, flowers, a certain astringency, caramel, spices, and exotic fruits jostle each in turn to leave a last impression in the mouth. A very good rum in the permanent range.

A phenomenal XO blend that exhibits all the signature flavors of Dillon: Overripe banana, mocca, prunes, little bit of vanilla, and in this instance and very surprisingly for Dillon a whisper of licorice (this is not a Neisson after all). Normally I am not a fan of a licorice note but here it is so beautifully wrapped that it gives the flavor a stringent mid-note that beautifully complements the otherwise tropical and decadent flavor profile. On a personal note I might also add that this is a very good bottle to warm up people to the (ar)cane wonder that is rhum agricole, particularly for those who may have had a less than ideal first experience with one of the harsher unaged variants.

Super smooth agricole with a great roasted nuts plus chocolate twist. Unbelievable good value for money.

Price-performance is top.
Review by Johnny Rumcask
Perfect Agricole for beginners. Excellent price-performance ratio. Not annoyingly woody like many older Agricoles. Alcohol is well integrated.

On the nose red fruits, wood, delicate spices On the palate pungent with spices, fruits and light wood

In my quest to taste the Dillons (and some Martinican rums), I bought this Dillon XO 12 years old. Very good value for money. Paid €45.90. Needs a bit of airing to open up. A very good bottle to have a great evening with friends! Nose Fresh, woody, slightly toasted, spices, light caramel. Palate Fresh, balanced, fruity, slightly vegetal, wood, light smoke, spices, light chocolate, peppery. Finish Medium length, wood, light roasting, chocolate, light coffee, light caramel.

Amber Smell: Fresh and fruity yet soft and mild. Smells of anise and mint, as well as vanilla. Taste: Sweet and creamy, soft and mild. Fruity, and when swallowing also spicy with aromas of vanilla, cognac and mint. Finish: Medium length Fruity Clean, woody, dry with cask aromas. 85 points Very nice rum - great value for money. Perfect as a standard for the home bar.

What a hunk of a standard agricole of old. This is a good step up in flavour and complexity. I really adore these as being easy sipping but really thankful to take a minute and properly taste it. No comparison to newer iterations
