Dillon XO Rhum Vieux 12 Ans
Sip this one neat with a few minutes of air — it needs to open up. Members find green apple, citrus and candied sugarcane on the nose, then a fruity, lightly vegetal palate with cocoa, coffee and vanilla over dry oak. One taster called it a good bottle to warm people up to agricole after a harsher first try. Round, gentle, dry but not aggressively so.

Good value for money. This Dillon was the one that made me increase my Dillon shelf. The nose is rather sharp with aromas of chocolate and hints of fruit, wood and spices. At the palate it’s complex, round, woody, sweet and smooth with flavors of chocolate, vanilla and coffee.

Tasting evening at Dr.Django: This Agricole from Dillon is too much on the perfumed floral side for me...on the nose as well as on the palate...there is also an artificial side to the palate. The finish is relatively short and unspectacular

Wow. Impressive with the 40%. Super velvety and full-bodied. Great older Agricole with lots of sweet tea and grass notes.
Review by Martin Augustin
Kurzer Abgang. Ein für den Preis sehr guter Agricole.

#4736 10.06.2024 Relaxing withe a few samples at home. Nose Fresh, wood, light roasted, spice, pineapple, ginger, light mango, faint caramel. Palate Fresh, balanced, fruity, light vegetal, wood, faint smoke, spice, cardamom, faint ginger, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, wood, light roasted, chocolate, faint coffee, light pineapple, faint caramel. A very well balanced release that just needs time in the glass to really open up.

8,3:On the nose, candied sugarcane, herbaceous, flowery, wood with nuts, pastry, spicy, dry, citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the cane is sweet with honey, some apples arise, as vanilla. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is very rich, but balanced with sugarcane juice, flowery, herbaceous, fresh with tea, later mineral and slightly waxy, delicious fruits like mirabelle plums, dried apricots, the wood is slightly roasted with pastry, nuts, spicy with vanilla. 8,3:The finish is long, dry and tannic, the sugarcane is flowery, herbaceous, fresh with tea, earthy and mineral, the fruits are yellow and dried, mirabelle plums especially delicious, as the wood is slightly roasted with caramel, dark chocolate, spicy..

Review by TheRhumhoe

A phenomenal XO blend that exhibits all the signature flavors of Dillon: Overripe banana, mocca, prunes, little bit of vanilla, and in this instance and very surprisingly for Dillon a whisper of licorice (this is not a Neisson after all). Normally I am not a fan of a licorice note but here it is so beautifully wrapped that it gives the flavor a stringent mid-note that beautifully complements the otherwise tropical and decadent flavor profile. On a personal note I might also add that this is a very good bottle to warm up people to the (ar)cane wonder that is rhum agricole, particularly for those who may have had a less than ideal first experience with one of the harsher unaged variants.

What a hunk of a standard agricole of old. This is a good step up in flavour and complexity. I really adore these as being easy sipping but really thankful to take a minute and properly taste it. No comparison to newer iterations
