Anyone building a rum and coke or an easy navy-style cola drink is the real audience here. It's a soft, sweet Guyana blend with molasses, coffee, toffee and dark chocolate, plus a surprisingly peppery finish. Several tasters find it thin and one-dimensional neat, and more than one calls the caramel and vanilla notes artificial. Fine in a mixer, underwhelming in a tasting glass.

A pleasant smell of molasses, dark chocolate and coffee, quite spicy. The taste is also spicy, chocolate, oily and slightly burning from the alcohol. The medium-long finish is slightly sweet at first, then becoming a bit more bitter.

Trivial Guyana with notes of wood, toffee, a few hints of herbs and some bitterness. Too thin for mixing and even more so for sipping. You somehow get the impression that the rum has been filtered and diluted for so long that it tastes soft and not very intense.

Simple and sweetened-tasting rum from Guyana. On the nose, artificial caramel notes, some molasses, and a dull sweetness without real depth. On the palate, soft, sweet, and watery, with minimal spice and hardly any recognizable Demerara character. The 40% makes the profile seem flat. Overall, a very simple mixer without ambition, disappointing as a pure rum and clearly too one-dimensional in aroma.

An off brand Demerara that commits to the bit. Classic brown sugar and toffee notes on the nose, with a standard if mild palate, and a surprisingly strong finish for the proof.

🎉 Back to Bosco's anniversary lineup 👉 Starting with the aperitif: Skipper Dark Rum – 40% "The Best in This Rum World"… nothing less 😏 A super retro label in 30s style, but in the glass, it's a blend of 7 Guyana rums, aged at least 3 years, bottled in Glasgow Navy style. And judging by the color… let's be clear: it smells like a rum generously "sauced" 🧪 👉 On the tasting: Quite a bit of sweetness, spices, a touch of raisin… but clearly not a sipping rum. In a Cuba Libre, it expresses itself a bit better, but remains too round, too tame. I even had to wake it up with some Smith & Cross to give it character… 👉 Verdict: ❌ No interest neat ❌ Too light to really shine in cocktails ✅ A nice label… and that's about it 👉 Clearly, not for me.

Pleasant enough nose. Really a mixing rum and it shows, fairly one dimensional in the mouth with a surprisingly peppery finish. With coke it does well, toffee notes come to the fore and certainly a solid mixing rum if looking for more of that navy style Demerara blend
