Velier Providence Haitian Rum Blanc „First drops“ 2019
Here's the surprise: at 57% it barely bites. Members keep noting the heat stays hidden under fresh cane juice, banana, and a funky glue-and-olive edge that reads clairin-adjacent but tamer. Expect strawberry, apricot, a floral-peppery lift and a long, creamy finish. One taster called it "dirty grassiness & farmy notes" — Haitian character without the raw punch.

The Distillery situated in Port-au-Prince opened up in 2018. The founders is the Barbancourt-Linge family in collaboration La Maison & Velier. Providence “First Drops” is the first release of the distillery. It’s an unaged rum distilled from syrup and fresh cane juice from sugar cane that comes from the Clairin producer Michel Sajous.

Slivowitz is as good as this rum. Great to try, but I wouldn’t buy a bottle

Good agricultural rum. Compared to its Haitian brethren this rum is less intense and therefore lends itself very well to blending. Very good to taste as well, but a bit below compared to the clairins.Delicate aromas of sugarcane and olives/vegetable.

Typical "Agricole-like" representative from Haiti.

Very good agricole 🤤Actually my favorite haitian rum, so far. Delicious, balanced and not so spicy. I see it more on the daily driver side 😜 Update: For me this makes by far the best Ti Punch 🤤🤤 yummy

This is a great white from a relatively new destillery and they have done very well. This is in my mind a top shelf white rum that deserves the title as a great sipping rum which doesn't need to be put in a mixer. This is a must try in my mind.

Really pleasant, this very vegetal white. Very present cane. A little earthy. The 57s are very discreet. Regouté and first impression confirmed. Fresh and very pleasant.

Super funky nose in which sweet strawberry and olive pickled in vinegar can be found. Also found in the warm finish again. In the mouth then rather apricot and an already exaggerated sweetness which then but again goes into the pleasantly fruity. Very unique taste that stands out from normal Agricole (is itself none but yet somehow "similar") strong.

Oh, eah, a very nice Rum. Similarities to Clairins are there, but it's not the raw power. Fruity, sweet but balanced. A slight hint of wood and olives. No sharp alcohol experience here, which is good, and a well balance as well. The aftertaste lingers quite long, as usually is the case with such rums. Lovely, I deviated from my usual 2 sessions per sample approach, as it was just so very tasty.

Fantastic Haitian rum, definitely on par with the clairin rums I've tried. Perfect on it's own, also fantastic in a daiquiri

A good Clairin. Very much on the fruit brandy, especially apricot (as often when Capovilla has its say). It lacks craziness but it's a good value.
