I was very impressed by this double barreled rum from Paraguay. An exceptional medium bodied dark amber rum with a complex fusion. The initial nose is warming and redolent. Cloves cinnamon candied orange peel and vanilla . A slightly lactic tang brings to mind a carrot cake ; extremely inviting. On the palate spicy and dry , layers of cocoa, caramel and spices. A strong incienso marrón wood and oak is more inviting than challenging. The structure is coherent. The finish is long smooth clean and supple. There is an appetising bitter cocoa note and it goes down like spiced Mexican hot coco, warming but restraint. Excellent sipping rum.

Sorry

Vůně spíš z agricole rybníku. Svěží až bylinková. Vůbec s tím nemám problém. Chuť dost travnatá, zeleninová s koření. Řekněme něco mezi karibským agricole a cachacou. Závěr zase dost rostlinný s hřebíčkem a snad lékořicí, nejsem si v tom moc jistý. Obyčejnější kousek, ale pro mě žádný průšvih.

Doesn’t smell like something I’d like to drink and taste is funky allthough not fully unpleasant to my evolving palate.

Calendrier de l'avent 2024 no 16
Review by rum_sk
I didn't like this at all. Probably the worst sample from the 2024 calendar. The smell is repulsive at best, the only positive is a hint of chocolate. The taste, well, that's probably even worse than the smell. Initially sour, metallic, which then turns into a pelendrek taste. It reminds me very much of the Swedish salty pelendrek Svenskjävlar (Swedish bastards) with a flavour of ammonium chloride, i.e. NH4Cl. If you haven't tasted it, you won't understand :D Anyway, I stuck to the once and enough rule with these too. I tasted it, but it won't happen again. The finish is quite long after the pelendrek aka salty iodine licorice candy.

Weird smell of slightly turned deli ham. Golden pour. Kind of a foul follow through as well. So much for Paraguay. Day 16 of 24 days of rum.
