CDI Spiced Rum

Anyone chasing a heavily spiced, nutmeg-forward mixer will find their bottle here. Ginger, clove and a big hit of nutmeg dominate, with orange and cinnamon underneath — one taster even nailed it as grandma's mashed potatoes with a mountain of nutmeg. The rum itself hides behind the spice. Most agree it's not for sipping neat; it shines in a dark 'n' stormy or a winter grog.

Grandma's mashed potatoes with lots of nutmeg is the first association here. Ginger, cinnamon, cloves, honey and orange play second fiddle on the nose. Rum is no longer necessarily noticeable here. The palate shows that pure enjoyment was not the plan here. Not bad at all, not at all boozy - but very strongly spiced. The nutmeg in particular is really strong here. I think it's good, but I really have to say that the direction is VERY special. Supplement when tried in drinks.

für mich persönlich deutlich zu viel Muskatnuss ... dennoch ein ungewöhnlicher spiced Rum und anders als viele andere marken auf dem markt und interessant.

Lots of citrus, some ginger and cloves. Fresh, somewhat reminiscent of gin. Not for drinking pure, but for mixing: dark ''n stormy please!

Strong on ginger, nutmeg, orange and cinnamon. Not my pure style, but great as a toddy in winter or a dark n stormy in summer.

Nothing to enjoy pure. Very much nutmeg and ginger.

Aged rum

Avg Rating 8.0/10 over 16,000 Rums

Aged rum is where the spirit earns its complexity. In a tropical warehouse a barrel loses 6 to 10 percent of its contents to evaporation every year, which is why an 8-year Caribbean rum can taste deeper than a 20-year Scotch. This page gathers every rum on RumX that has spent real time in wood, with community ratings to separate the genuinely mature from the merely dark.
