Here's the surprise: for a PX sherry finish, this drinks fairly dry. The sherry is front and center — dark, with roasted hazelnut, chocolate and raisin — but no syrupy sweetness. The nose throws real glue and varnish before the fruit shows up. Several tasters wish the body weren't so thin, but most find it a rounded, easy entry into cask-finished rum without added sugar.

Bellamy's 12 years old px Finish Schmeckt wunderbar mild der sherry kommt wunderbar zur geltung. Der Sherry ist deutlich im vordergrund aber nie zu viel, nicht zu süß eher ganz hamonisch. Eine leichte geröstete hasselnuss note ist auch eingebunden in ein für mich leicht würzigen Rum.

Meine RumRatings Review von vor 5 Jahren: Der Rum ist in der Nase durchaus angenehm. Würzig mit deutlichen Frucht Noten ist er weder langweilig noch besonders interessant. Klebstoff ist in der Nase. Wie ein Klebestift von Uhu. Etwas Holz schwingt auch noch mit. Am Gaumen ist der Rum dann irgendwie etwas muffig. Holznoten sind da. Sherry und Frucht. Dunkle Früchte sind es. Aber auch Bitterstoffe und einen Nebengeschmack der mir gar nicht gefallen hat. Wie gesagt, irgendwie muffig. Der Rum will sich aber auch nicht entfalten und bleibt extrem eindimensional. Es ist natürlich immer subjektiv aber im Vergleich mit den anderen Rums aus dem Set war dieser schon mit Abstand der schlechteste. Würde ich nicht kaufen.

Edit: tried again at Village'25 for €30, a good mixer Briefly tried at Serge's at lunch during sample exchange. A positive surprise what you get for the money here. For not having any added dosage, relatively sweet. Definitely recommended as a sipper for in between.

Hinweis: Tätigkeit bei Perola GmbH (Spirituosenbranche), teilweise berufliche Involvierung bei bewerteten Abfüllungen. Alle Bewertungen sind meine persönliche, unbezahlte Meinung. Verhältnismäßig trocken für ein PX Sherry Finish... super plv ! Haselnuss, Schokolade und Rosinen sowohl an der Nase als auch im Geschmack, aromatisch nicht ultra komplex aber durchaus rund und ein schöner Einstiegs Rum ohne Zucker.

Had a Bellamy's Reserve tasting yesterday and it was kind of a disappointment to say the least. Here's the last of the six. The glue and varnish is very dominant in the nose but fortunately it's not on the palate. There is no doubt that this one was finished in Pedro Ximenes casks because the sherry shines brightly in this one :-) OK balanced rum and the price is also OK.

So I have to say that the PX finish here is firstly not so sweet (really tastes like a dry cask and the sherry notes are pleasant) and that the finish really upgrades this (yeah rather somewhat boring) El Salvador. Sherry, chocolate, dried fruits, cocoa, raisin, butter biscuit, caramelized sugar, cask. However, I find it a bit too thin. But definitely drinkable neat and also mixes quite well.

Glue, varnish, chocolate, raisin, and some banana on the nose. Especially glue and varnish stand out. Behind that, subtle nut and strong wood. Over all lies intense, dark sherry. On the palate comparatively dry but enormously intense in sherry. Spicy, with chocolate and biscuit (not sweet). Here the wine becomes more alcoholic, the rest unfortunately remains relatively thin and pale. Which is really a shame because there would be a lot of room for improvement. Some sweetening would have suited it in my opinion.

Trockenfrüchten und Holz gehen Hand in Hand mit einem Beiklang von warmer Würze. Der Bellamys Reserve Rum 12 Jahre offenbart reiche Sherrynoten und einen Unterton von Eiche. Zu den Gewürzen und zum holzigen Hauch gesellt sich eine angenehme Süße
