Well drinkable 97 Caroni, tar and overripe mango, very tasty. However, the alcohol could be better integrated. The rum changes quickly in the glass, after 15 minutes it goes in the direction of Foursquare. After 2 hours in the glass it is dead. I've never experienced it like this before. With longer opening of the bottle and the accompanying oxidation, the mango disappears and the rum appears more mature and deeper. Edit, again in the glass: easy to drink, lacks fullness in the mouth. Nevertheless, a very good rum in its own right.

Alcohol not well integrated, resulting in a rather sharp taste. The typical Caroni associations at the beginning, but these disappear surprisingly quickly. Very short and meaningless finish.

This one was a disappointment mostly because I think the alcohol was poorly integrated. The nose is typical Caroni with tar, rubber and polish/varnish and fruits, but the alcohol kept coming through even after resting. The palate is a bit flat for a Caroni with rubber, tar and solvents topped with some caramel, nuts and a tad of orange. The finish is long and burning with roasted rubber.

1997 crosstasting of continentally aged releases: First an appealing HTR profile, then a noticeable bitterness from the barrel. The finish is relatively straightforward. Appealing, but in direct comparison not on par with the top class.
