TBRC Caroni Bottled for Kirsch Whisky 1998
Black cherry and menthol up front, with chocolate, thyme and just a light touch of rubber and tar rather than the full workshop. Several tasters call out how round, fruity and easygoing this 1998 Caroni is — "not dirty at all" for the style. At 58.1% the heat sits surprisingly well. One reviewer's new reference for the fruity, herbal side of Caroni.
- Cherry-menthol-chocolate
- Round and herbal

How does TBRC Caroni Bottled for Kirsch Whisky 1998 taste?
Aggregated from 26 community reviews.
Fruity, herbal Caroni, lighter on the rubber A 22-year Caroni that leans herbal, cherry-sweet and rounder than usual, with only a hint of the classic rubber. Tar-and-bicycle-tube purists may want dirtier; most here love it.

A little Caroni tasting. I wish I hadn't started it. Why do they all taste so good? :D Great stuff. Not so pronounced workshop notes. Rather a little fruitier, sweeter and nicely drinkable. I like it very much. Many thanks Jakob.

This was a huge surprise, not your typical Caroni at all. Milder and rounder than you'd expect and not dirty at all. The nose is fruity and herbal with menthol, chocolate and some roasted notes. The palate is light, round and kind of sweet with cherry rubber, menthol, chocolate and a lighter herbal note than the nose. The finish is medium long and mild with cherries as well as light rubber and wood.

Solid 98 Caroni. Not dirty but nice complexity! Long finish, I like it :-)

A Caroni to enjoy, not quite so dirty... Edit: briefly corrected upwards again, after some time in the open sample it has become even rounder

Sehr lecker find ich rundum gelungen. Sehr gut integrierter Alkohol. Schöne Minz/Kirschnote und passend dreckig. Insgesamt wohl nicht oberstes Regal für Caroni Einsteiger wohl aber genau richtig. Durchaus einen Kauf wert!!

"Nose What..wait a moment! Mentholated chocolate, parsley, thyme, essential oils, Axe Deo, some glue and melted butter. This ain't no petrol can, but a hybrid of Angostura (the good ones), Damoiseau and some drops of Caroni 1996 Guyana stock. Plus the most herbal Caroni nose we've had in the glass so far. Definitely not one of the Dirty Trinidad section, which could disappoint some of the bicycle tube hardliners, but we on the other hand highly welcome it. After some time a very slight dirtiness arises, but not of rubber, more like farmy Islay peat, Bowmore style. No complaints Sir, we appreciate that bouquet. With water: Some sour cherries just popped in. Palate Delicate and creamy cherry sweetness meets new bicycle rubber. There it is! But not unpleasant. Add carob and filter coffee. Add After Eight Chocolate. Add cherries. Add amaretto and a few dashes of thyme oil. Throw a new eraser into the juice. Stirr. Ready is the heavy bodied, magic potion. It's a bit sharp though. With water: Getting perceptibly thinner. Better skip that water. Finish Medium long for a Caroni, but long enough for a continental one. The black cherries clearly set the agenda."Read full review →
