My first Caroni bottle, the second is just about to be split and emptied. The alcohol is very well integrated and the typical dirty Caroni aromas are very present. Ideal for (soon-to-be) poor Caroni disciples =D

8,4:On the nose, roasted wood notes with toffee, nutty, oaky, rubber and menthol, dried apricots and raisins, tropical fruits, are the first thing we notice, slightly rigid. On aeration, the rum is dirty, industrial with tar, the fruits citrus and berries, the molasses herbaceous, as new roasted wood notes, slightly smoky like coffee, confectionery, spicy with vanilla, arise. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is tasty, but a bit alcoholic, dry, slightly sweet with roasted wood notes like cream toffee, chocolate, then leather, peppery and smoky, industrial with rubber and tar, fruity with citrus, dried apricots and cherries, as the molasses is herbaceous. 8,5:The finish is long, dry&tannic, roasted wood notes with spice overpower others, the barrel impact is very strong, still we could notice rubber and tar, citrus and berries, herbaceous molasses, dark with black tea..

Very smooth Caroni with rather subtle, dirty aromas. Unusually sweet for a Caroni, but still pleasant. Perfect, accessible Caroni entry.

Beautiful HTR Caroni, typical aromatics for the 1998 vintage. Great complexity, the intense dirty notes are perfectly embedded in caramel sweetness and spices. A few fresh berry notes are also added on the finish, adding variety. Beautiful barrel selection.

Nose: The alcohol is barely perceptible! Woody, spicy notes predominate, very pleasantly mild. On the palate, the rum is creamy soft and spreads well in the mouth! Woody tones predominate again, slightly bitter and a little tar taste! The alcohol content is hardly noticeable here either! It has a slightly bacony, roasted note. The woody, spicy note continues in the finish! It remains medium long ..... A good rum, but not outstanding for me and therefore too expensive in my opinion

Schöne mechanische Nase :-D leicht schmutzige Rosine durch verbranntes gummi gezogen. Toller röstiger Geschmack. Rosinig gummiartig. Ein toller rum der mich wohl auf den caroni Geschmack gebracht hat. Immernoch einer meiner caroni Favoriten In der Nachverkostung: Gott Hölle was ein geiler rum!!

... Caroni je destilerie z Trinidadu, produkujici v dobe sve nejvetsi slavy rum, ktery se pridaval v pomeru 1:10 do namornickeho blendu. Byl totiz moc vyrazny a divny nez aby byl prijemny na jazyku. V roce 2000 destilerka skoncila s produkci a byla uzavrena. Az v roce 2010 se objevili degustatori, kteri si rum oblibili prave pro jeho specialni chut. A zajem rostl. Caroni patri do kategorie rumu "you need to try before you die". Doporucuji, Caroni je opravdu unikatni rum.

Ein durchaus schöner Caroni, der ziemlich auf der schmutzig medizinischen Seite ausgeprägt ist. Viel Teer, Phenol und Gummi sind zu finden und auch der relativ hohe Alkoholgehalt ist ganz gut integriert. Allerdings sind die fruchtigen Aromen eher Mangelware, was den Genuss etwas einseitig macht.

In der Nase gleich getrocknete, geschwefelte Aprikose, Kirsch-Essig, metallisch. Pfirsich-Aromen, holzig, Tabak, Leder. Frisch geöffnete Kakaopulver Dose. Gut eingebundener Alkohol. Am Gaumen intensiv, schnell in Richtung würzig, Tabak und Leder. Jetzt auch etwas dreckig, röstig. Metallisch, dann aber auch schnell wieder Weg. Leder im Abgang. Insgesamt schön und gefällig. Alkohol gut eingebunden.

Toller und runder 98er caroni aus den alten RA Zeiten. Ungewöhnlich süß, fast schon dick von der Viskosität am Gaumen, tolle Aromatik nach dem typischen verbrannten Caroni Gummi mit Brombeere, Aprikose und schwarzem Pfeffer, Aktienhonig und Toffee als fruchtigen Gegenpol. Kann man durchaus sehr gut trinken!

Typical tar/ash notes for Caroni. An inviting fruitiness (all the berries). Not so much Diesel this time. More leaning towards the red fruits than the "chemical notes". Maybe not the heaviest and most typical Caroni. But all in all very very tasty. Nicely balanced and complex. I might get a bottle of this.

Nase: recht mild, fruchtig, süß, dazu Leder, rauchig und eine Messerspitze Gummi Gaumen:süß, rauchig,dunkle Schokolade,Leder, röstig und ein wenig Gummi Abgang:Mittellang, geprägt durch den Gaumen,dazu ein paar Beeren unf Ingwer Der SBS hat mir besser gefallen,durch die deutlicheren Caronigene im Mund,auch wenn die Nase mir hier leicht vorn lag. Im Vergleich war der Abgang vom SBS auch extrem lang.
