Enmore Flensburg Rum Company Guyana (Kirsch Whisky) KFM 1991

Sip this one slow and neat, on a quiet evening — it's not a mixer and not a beginner's pour. The nose is where everyone agrees: tobacco, black tea, leather, dried prunes and old oak, deep and endless. The palate turns dry and seriously bitter — black tea, dark chocolate, mocha, tannins, a cooling mint edge. Almost no fruit, lots of wood. A polarizing wooden-still Enmore that rewards patience.

The community says
  • Overwhelming nose
  • Deep tea & tobacco
  • But: Very bitter palate

Very cool dark color 😎 Nose: Amazing notes of tobacco, oak, licorice, leather and a lot of rubber. I found some dried prunes and raisins too. After 20-30 min. of resting, I found some cool notes of cumin😜 On the palate: Woody, salty and bitter, oak (a lot of woodiness), herbal notes, minty, black tea, leather and licorice. Finish: Is quite long and bitter, without getting astringend. It’s more one the enjoyable side😜It’s like a woody cocktail (with all the various notes) with some pencil shavings as crumbles 😜

Rumy Enmore totiz maji prichut popelu, kuze, tezkeho dreva, coz nadchne zejmena milovniky nakourenych whisky. A pokud tradicnim Guyanskym zpusobem prida vyrobce do rumu trochu melasy, mate v lahvi unikatni velmi vyrazny a tezky rum. Jeden z mych oblibenych.

An Enmore KFM that's very greedy and tasty. The nose is very sweet, initially floral, grassy and earthy (tobacco), followed by dried fruit (prunes) and plum, before a deluge of spices and smoky notes invade the nostrils. Greedy notes of toffee and cola follow after aeration. The attack on the palate is subtle, but no less expressive, with the typical bitterness provided by leather notes, roasted and spicy aromas and grassy, tobacco notes lending character to this fine profile. Black tea, dark chocolate and mocha also contribute to the sweetness. The finish is long and bitter, with the same spicy, woody and minty notes. A very fine Enmore, very low in alcohol but just as good and complex.

Schade.

After sampling this rum I went to Flensburg during the weekend and picked up this bottle and the slightly younger one as well. The nose is very intense and comes as soon as you open the bottle. Barrel and dried fruit hit first. Then the is tea, maybe even black tea with tobacco and a bit of rubber. The palate is heavy and complex and lives up to the nose. Slightly bitter with chocolate and spicy (pepper) some tannins and coffee hidden in there as well. In the end there is roasted cedar wood. The finish is long and spicy, slightly bitter and with some wood.

Nase: gut. Deutlich mehr Armomen als am Gaumen! Geschmack: Leider überdeckt das Holz nahezu alle Aromen. Pelzig-trocken.

Was ganz besonderes und edles. Auf 45% konzentriert, nicht verdünnt. Das schmeckt man!

Enmore

Avg Rating 8.8/10 over 210 Rums

Enmore gave the world the last wooden Coffey still, built here around 1880 and still running at Diamond. It is also one of only two Guyanese estates where you can actually buy rum distilled while the place was open: 17 vintages between 1962 and its closure in April 1994. On most Demerara pages that sentence is not true.
