One reviewer called it a "Sherry-Bombe," and that fits: raisin, prune and licorice piled on roasted, coffee-and-mocha wood, with a honey-sweet, oily palate that melts like chocolate. Several found the 61.7% cask strength a touch too hot or slightly unbalanced, and a couple felt the wood eventually takes over — but the dried-fruit-and-sherry density has real fans.

The 88 points I awarded it years ago are now impressively confirmed when I taste it again. A true explosion of flavor! Liquid licorice. It's amazing that this rum only cost around EUR 60 when it was released. For me, this rum from my early days is and remains an icon.

Wow, what a density of aromas - great nose! A real sherry bomb. Really drinkable, but for me personally almost a little too sweet at the end.

04-05.11.2022 Den Danske Rom & Whiskyfestival 2022. Another return to this big event where many people go to get drunk. Once again we had a special event for a select set of people. Notes. Very nice and well balanced Diamond. Medium fruity with nice roasted wood notes and a spicy palate. The finish is long with some chocolate. Love the menthol in the profile.

First RumX community meeting in Acht. Lots of wood here, the old varnished wood dominates the other flavors. Also dried fruits and an acetone side, a bit cloying. The first mouthful is ample, with beautiful dried fruits. But the wood quickly catches up and ends up completely dominating. The finish is rather long and strangely more on dried fruits than wood. A nice rum but not quite balanced.

On the nose it comes across nicely spicy with a very distinct sherry note. Sulphured and dried apricot and honey sweetness. The alcohol is a bit sharp at first, but then well integrated. Licorice and a hint of mint come in as well as leather and some tobacco. Intense and complex on the palate. Again, clearly that sherry cask. Fruit-wise, plum and dried plum dominate. Slightly peppery and yet caramel-sweet. Slightly bitter-salty in the back with a hint of mint. I'm no longer such a fan of sherry aging, but this one is good!

That was a pleasant surprise. The rum is more on the dark/roasty side with licorice, malt, wood, leather, spices and some prunes. Alcohol perfectly integrated and excellent PLV.

Thanks to Thomas for sharing this excellent sample. The first impression reveals a beautiful, deep color. Nose: Very dominant notes of licorice, complemented by herbal accents, roasted nuts, and dried fruits. Palate: Intense and balanced, showcasing pleasant sherry nuances, licorice, and distinct barrel character. Finish: Quite long and velvety, with layers of leather, black tea, and licorice. The aftertaste brings to mind some classic REV bottlings.

I love this rum! Admittedly, especially in the nose are missing big surprises. Mainly woody and spicy and rather unround, but by no means unpleasant. As it lingers longer, it becomes more pleasant and warmerIn the mouth, this is top notch for me. A very honeyed, oily and powerful attack. Very round compared to the nose. Melts on the tongue like melted chocolate. Absolutely recommended to buy. Several bottles spiked 🤙

The finish does the rum good, the heavy sweetness balances the bitter-spicy notes and alcoholic sharpness quite well. Solid Diamond, which gains additional appeal thanks to the sweet wine influence.

#notapro Strong tones of raisin and baked plum on the nose and palate, later also woody tones and the clear signature of the sherry cask. The alcohol content of this rum is too high for my taste, or not harmoniously integrated.

On the nose rather reserved, wet wood, burnt caramel. Slightly sweet caramel start, but quickly replaced by bitter and astringent wood. Not a nice finish, quite an unharmonious rum.

For me a very typical dark Guyana profile. Lots of roasted aromas, mocha, coffee and raisin. Plus leather and burnt sugar. All quite intense and reminds me of the SBS 2012. That one was also too intense for me. I feel similarly here. Unfortunately not to my taste.
