This one divides the room, and not the way most Hampdens do. LFCH is a low-ester mark, so the wild funk you'd expect is dialed way back — the nose is shy, more brown sugar and pineapple than glue. On the palate it's oily and dry with menthol, licorice and light wood. Some find it underrated; several regulars call it more of a collector's shelf piece than a drinker.

Very underrated rum in my opinion. Nose is fantastic with a lot of fruits and sweetness. Mouth is less complex but still very good.

Thanks to Johannes it was possible to do this little Birds Flight. In the race were 2x OWH, 5x LFCH (including the HV LFCH mixed) and 2x LROK. As a conclusion from my side, from LROK they are more fun, the low ester faction is okay. In my opinion, the Birds are not worth the money, rather a collector's item. I can't really recognize big differences.

Tasted by chance, next to the Hampden overproof. Less fruit, (too much) alcohol, menthol, licorice, pine...Not worth its money for me personally.

27.03.2021 A nice Velier tasting thanks to my friend Cheng from Singapore. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Wood, medium intense, light roasted, fruity, cinnamon, faint smoke, pineapples, light vegetal. Palate Oily, wood, light roasted, pineapple, spice, vegetal, faint smoke, light berries, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, wood, oily, fruits, berries, faint orange. Extra note. Needs to rest for a good while to even out the ABV and release all flavours.

Hampden, legendary Jamaican distillery, which besides rum also produces alcohol for perfumes. In all rums from this distillery you can feel wild esters, after which your whole body soaks in the scent of yellow tropical fruit - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the rums you "must try before you die".

Smell of molasses and brown sugar, quite shy nose. Roundness on the palate, very interesting alcohol integration, with good liveliness. Buttery cocoa, fresh spices, menthol, light woodiness, gourmand and little mango.

Quite shy nose, little fruit and quite a bit of alcohol. The palate is lively and also a bit flat even if the licorice, eucalyptus give it a bit of relief, but it also has a soapy touch not very pleasant, it lacks fruit and indulgence, quite far from what you can expect from a Hampden.
