Honey, marzipan and a salty citrus twist run right through this Port Mourant. Bottled young for a PM at 15 years, so it reads fresher and less woody than the 20-year releases — pear, banana, anise and a creamy mouthfeel. The 59.6% is remarkably well hidden. A few tasters wish the finish held on longer, but most call it a genuine PM reference.

Fresh, citrus fruits, anchovies, honey on the nose. Very cool mix! An inviting creaminess on the palate and the citrus fruits harmonize with an interesting saltiness. Excellent release from Bank's!

Edit: And again had a sample twice. Tried again and thrilled. Therefore corrected upwards again. So I could finally enjoy the rarity sample in peace. What a beautiful rum. Many thanks for the selection. Insanely delicious.

An absolute Port Mourant reference: Salt honey almonds, some herbal candy and lime zest?! fantastic!!! 😍🤤 Definitely an absolute under dog among the continental matured Guyana rums. Very tasty!

A continental Port Mourant with a harmonious, fragrant nose: notes of honey and marzipan blend well with herbs, wood and spice. Fruits support the olfactory profile and lend cachet to the whole. Structured, smooth and coherent. On the palate, the Port Mourant continental is a little rougher, with aromatic herbs, tea and earthiness, but also plenty of spice, salt, wood and slightly bitter notes. There's a spiciness and warmth that may suggest a slight imbalance over time. The alcohol remains well integrated, however. The finish is a notch lower, relatively thin and flat, retaining little aroma in the mouth at the end, but retaining the DNA of Port Mourant (spicy, bitter, herbaceous, woody notes, but quite sweet overall). A good rum at a reasonable price to discover Guyana and its history.

Very nice bottling. Classic PM 97 fruits and herbs. On the palate this is accompanied by some honey sweetness and a creamy texture. I think this was an excellent time to bottle this rum as it is more vibrant and less dominated by wood compared to more recent releases of 20+ years.

Nose: intense with hay, yellow fruits and honey Palate: sweet and dry at the same time, again hay and yellow fruits, almonds and marzipan, very nicely balanced and creamy mouthfeel, honey Aftertaste: medium-long and dry This Port Mourant pleases us very much because of its creamy texture and sweetness.

RumX Rarities day 7. A herbal nose with marzipan, barely ripe pineapple. Aromas intensifying in the mouth until filling the oral cavity. Bitter herbs, varnished wood, leather, marzipan. The finish is rather fine on the bitter herbs. The empty glass on noble wood, varnish and some flowers and always this pastry side. A beautiful rum rich in aromas and balanced. A real pleasure and excellent drinkability.

14.08.2015 A nice evening out with friends from Copenhagen and Malmö. Notes Light in colour. Nose Wood, light roasted, workshop, citrus, light smoke, herbs, light anise. Palate Oily, wood, light smoke, herbs, salty, light leather, licorice, medium dry. Finish Medium to long, wood, smooth, oily, licorice, raisin.

Very surprising! Until now, continental matured PM have rarely picked me up, my first one even made me distance myself from Demerara for quite some time. This is already really great class, for 16 years he already seems incredibly set. In the nose with pear, apple, banana, marzipan, baked apple and the familiar wood. Very mouth filling, creamy, sweet with lovely notes of overripe fruit and very dominant spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, baked apple, anise, marzipan. Horny finish

On the nose, due to the fresh fruit aroma and the mineral touch, I still think of an Enmore; on the palate the somewhat spicier, typical PM-Marque notes come much more into play. The alcohol is impressively integrated, the rum is round but by no means one-dimensional - the aromatic complexity also absolutely convinces. An exquisite representative of the Port Mourant style from continental aging.

Rum Rarities #7: This special profile of fruit brandy, wood in saltwater plus a certain sweetness is really unmistakable. This representative impresses with well-integrated alcohol and a nice balance. On the downside, there's a somewhat low intensity and not a particularly long finish. Overall still a very nice example of continentally aged PMs.

Blind tasting: a full, initially sharp nose with lots of glue and anise, some leather, mango, and papayas – definitely not a rum at drinking strength! The sharpness in the nose completely fades after about 10-15 minutes, making way for the typical Port Mourant aromas mentioned above. The palate shows that this is probably full cask strength around 60%. Very full-bodied and complex with the aforementioned fruits and loads of anise and other spices. The closer it gets to the finish, the creamier the mouthfeel becomes. What else but anise do we find in the finish? And plenty of it... Paired with lots of oak and some tobacco. A nice, typically long PM finish. I really liked this PM and comparing these notes with my existing ones, there’s a similarity to TheRumCask PM 1997. In a cross-tasting of the two rums, I’d guess both come from the same batch but differ in % and maturation. The TRC seems a few years older and has a slightly lower alcohol content. Unfortunately, the blind candidate doesn’t quite reach the TRC either. Nonetheless, a very good rum. I’d guess a PM with 15-17 years from 1997 and about 60%. 87 points
