This one was a little disappointing because usually Monymusk's are pretty good, but I think this is because of the lowered ABV. The nose has alcohol and varnish before resting, so I recommend resting it because then you get fruit, vanilla and a touch of wood. The palate is thin and sweet with fruits, spices and a little oak. Definitely what I had expected. The finish is medium long with tropical fruits, spices and a touch of oak. Would have loved a higher ABV, but on the other hand, this is a cheap rum :-)

Read full review ›I will certainly continue to explore Independent bottlings. This rum hasn't blown me away but it is certainly very different to the Appleton Estate line of Jamaican rum. At the price I think Mezan are well worth considering as a purchase.
