Made for people who already like Demerara PM-still rum and don't need it sweetened. This 1999 Uitvlugt leans dry and spicy: lots of pepper, anise and licorice over damp wood, with faint plum, cherry and almond behind. One taster called it "unkonventionell" but complex; another found it one of the weaker 99er PMs. Oily body, medium finish some wished ran longer.

Having a few more afternoon samples before my wife gets back home. Nose Light wood, light smoke, light plum, light cherry, anise, light nuts, light caramel. Palate Oily, peppery, wood, light roasted, light smoke, faint chocolate, light plum, anise, light citrus, light herbs, light caramel Finish Medium to long, wood, faint smoke, light cherry, plum, light caramel. Empty glass Caramel, prunes, light herbs, licorice, light medical.

Very well-balanced continental PM, accessible without hiding the typical harsh notes of the PM still. Aromatically complex, alcohol well integrated – the bottlings know how to impress.

It's a PM and it's very good. The nose is typical with a banana and almond powder well present. It's very nice. In the mouth it's more spicy and peppery than I expected but it's well done. As usual on this profile we find a wet wood that comes in the background. It is marked but it remains quite acceptable when you like this profile.

A distinctive Guyanese aroma that also reflects in the taste. Lots of spices, licorice, well-used barrel, a bit of fruit. I would have liked a longer finish. Overall, a memorable piece, very drinkable and probably accessible for less experienced drinkers. Definitely worth trying.
