Vanilla, coconut and burnt sugar sit on a light, silky white rum from DDL in Guyana. Most tasters call it a mixing bottle first — the alcohol pokes through even at 40%, and citrus dominates the nose. Well, this rum is really not meant to be drunk neat. Probably quite okay for mixing. On the nose mostly citrus fruits, also the alcohol is clearly noticeable. On the palate very burning alcoholic, maybe a bit of coconut.

A muted nose, where you pick up vanilla, coconut, brown sugar, amongst the alcohol. The flavors are great (coconut, crème brule, vanilla) but the alcohol comes through quite strongly even at 80 proof. If the alcohol was integrated better, this would be incredible.

The nose reminds me of a lemon flavoured nougat from an old sweet shop. A bit of roasted coffee notes linger in the background. The palate takes a different direction. Milk chocolate and vanilla are most at play here. Some woody barrel notes are also present. The finish is of a medium length and is very subtle but pleasant. The chocolate taste becomes a darker cocoa and some spice joins in. Overall, I think I prefer this so some of the El Dorado range with more age. I think you'd have to go up to the 12 year old to get better from them.

Its relatively light and has a bit of an alcoholic bite, but it also gives a lot of relatively rich burnt sugar flavors for the price, although it's a bit more expensive than most "well" products. I does make a very respectable daiquiri, where it gives a reasonable body and roundness but mainly showcases lime.

Nice rum for mixing. Better than the slightly more expensive 5-year-old. However, in this price range, I prefer the Plantation 3 Stars.

With coffee and chocolate, quite unusual aromas for a white rum, the slight citrus note in the nose disappears completely in the taste. Very creamy and mild, practically no alcohol burn. Really good and pure, the best white rum I've had so far. Drinks: - Neat: 4/5 - Rum Cola: 3/5 - Daiquiri: 3.5/5

Basic with a hint of sweetness. I bought this to see if DDL can make a delicious 'white' rum. It's not bad, but it's not very impressive. This is a mixer. I won't rebuy.

A white rum that's less suited for neat enjoyment. Price similar to Bacardi Blanco, but not quite as harsh. A rather mild rum, but also without flavor nuances. In cocktails or with cola, rather unspectacular and unremarkable. Good for someone who wants a simple rum taste in their drink, but without any further flavor surprises.

Without infamy or praise, it is a good base for daiquiris and other drinks but does not go beyond that. Too bad because its origin could give much much more. On a curious note, I once paired it with a single origin Madagascar chocolate from Amedei and it worked great
