Leather, coffee and anise pour out of the glass, with a heavy, medicinal edge that needs 15 minutes to fully unfold — classic Port Mourant. The sherry-cask finish sits on top, dry and tannic, and stretches long and warm on prunes and roasted oak. At 58% it's full-proof and full-bodied, and most drinkers here rate it high. One or two find the finish a touch too roasty.

Whisky & Rom Festival 2023 28.10.2023 This is a retaste and I still like it a lot. Very mellow and well balanced. ------------------- This is a nice Port Mourant and I like the heavy nose with a lot of flavours being released after 15+ minutes of rest. Ester, coffee and herbs moving towards a medicinal nose. The palate is also kind of heavy with a floral touch, fruits and leather follows and still has a medicinal note. The finish is long and warm and you can clearly taste the sherry from the 5 year sherry cask finish.

here the finish is too dominant for me personally, a little too bitter and toasty in the finish. in the overall bouquet an exciting rum but a few months finish less would have done the rum certainly better...

Rum Nation Small Batch - Port Mourant 1999 - 58% Again from Port Mourant and Rum Nation, with another Sherry finish! More austere than the 2010, it reveals marked tannic intensity and assertive dryness. Its aromatic profile is denser, with powerful medicinal notes. The long, warm finish stretches out on leather.

On the nose nice combo of coffee, leather, bit of medicinal notes and hints of smoke, but after some aeration too much licorice comes forth that I don't like. However it doesn't translate to the taste much and the dark notes of leather, chocolate, roasted wood prevail supported by some spices. The sherry signature is nicely present here.
