Vendome pot-still fans and people who chase the funky, herbal St. Lucia style will feel at home here. Lots of elegant bitterness from the teenotes. Overripe tropical fruit notes, plus citrus tones of mandarin and lime. The bitter tones are the dominant opening in the aroma spectrum, I miss a bit of final balance. However, I complain at a high level, this is exciting in taste, intense and therefore clearly a very appealing release.

1. Tasting: Wow, Funk! Got Esters, Banana, Ananas. However, there is plenty left in this sample, so I will update with more detail at a later point. What I can say already: I like it! 2. Tasting: this happened after a while, and after having a bit of Agricole, so the initial difference in taste was quite appreciated. However, I found the rum to be a bit too sharp in its alcohol burn at the finish line, this time. 3. Tasting: this sample was 10cl. 😉 It is still quite sharp in the alcoholic burn, and leaves a slight metallic taste. I am a bit disappointed by it, as it starts really promising.

Still a little rough on the nose. Intense and spicy on the palate. The alcohol could be a little better integrated. Nevertheless, a very good representative of the St. Lucia style. Those who like a little more power will get their money's worth here.

Crazy. Tons of citrus in the form of lime and orange zest with honey and candied orange on the nose, plus subtle fresh green mint, pineapple, apricot and wood... incredibly easy-drinking on the palate, creamy with caramelized, almost burnt pineapple, mint and vanilla, as well as allspice. The finish is more menthol, lime peel, green pepper, sour pineapple, fruit bread and very dry and spicy at the end. Delicious!

This is a rum that makes me wonder how my perception can differ so much from others. I find hardly any fruit here beyond a ripe banana, but plenty of spicy, herbal and a bit of sweet wood. In the mouth, the herbs again hit first and foremost, followed by a mentholated finish. A powerful but harmonious rum develops on the minty lead note. It does not quite meet my taste with unmistakable quality. Update after half a year. I find the nose very good in the meantime. I have lost the banana and found citrus and peel. Somewhat reminiscent of the TDL menthol profile but in funky. In the mouth I find the alcohol too biting at only 56%. Nose top, finish very good, still air in between ( +2).

I compared the three Chairman's Reserve 9y RA&RTN, the 9Y Evanius Harris and the 20Y Old Brother in a cross-tasting. The Evanius is rounder than the RA although it is the same age. The spices and herbs are also present here, but not so intrusive. Instead, wood, almond and honey notes come to the fore in the mouth.

A light but very diverse nose. Citrus fruits meet honey and mint. On the palate, lots of honey, pepper, herbs, and mint. Creamy mint tea on the finish. Great rum from St. Lucia.

This is my second try with this rum, which I had set aside the first time (a while ago). Better today. I like the strong banana aroma on the nose, then a slightly burnt taste, ending with a tea-like flavor.

On the nose, the Evanius Harris reminds me a bit of a Mhoba with the artificial caramel/plastic note. Plus some leather, medicinal notes, spices, and a bit of ester. On the palate, a light sweetness, spices, some leather, and charred wood.

Nice chairman, intense herbal and mint note in taste. I usually only know this from tdls but lately this tone appears quite often at other distilleries worldwide. I definitely like it very much. It is balanced and complex. Should be tried at least once.

This is a nice release from St. Lucia. The nose is wonderful and has a bit of funk to it. The palate is wonderful with charred oak to it as well as fruits ad some vanilla. Beter than the 5 year old but not as fruity as the 13 year old. Still a very good rum at the current price tag.

Very ester-heavy, alcohol noticeable and not well integrated. Balanced with barrel and nice fruitiness, mainly red fruits. Tea notes and a slight bitterness, astringency that you have to let settle first. Exciting combination that doesn't quite harmonize. Needs some time in the glass to come together.

Chairman’s tasting with 3x Vendome (Evanius Harris, RMW, Rum&Co), 1x Vendome & John Dore Blend (Nectar) and 2x John Dore (Kirsch, Rum Exchange). The Vendome bottlings are a bit dirtier and medicinal, the John Dore fruitier. Of the Vendome, Evanius Harris was the most harmonious for me. Among the John Dore, Rum Exchange would have won if it weren't so woody (best on the nose), so I liked Kirsch better. Overall, the number 1 was the Nectar, which combined the best of both styles, mild, tasty and perfectly matured. The best of the tested Vendome.

Tasted directly against rx 1840 & rx 15630 during a Chairman’s tasting. This one is more alcoholic on the nose than fet 1840 with the same age. The 1840 is more burning on the palate. Overall, the Rum&Co Vendome (15630) comes out as the winner in the direct Vendome comparison – but also with double the age 😉

Really tasty Chairman's. The nose is fantastic and pleasantly dirty. Overall I really like the pure Vendome style. Blind I might have placed the rum in Trinidad. Definitely a top bottling for the RRP.

Saint Lucia offers quality rums and this bottling is no exception. Tropical fruits take over the nose (banana, pineapple, mango), supported by medicinal and honeyed notes tending towards caramel. The spices gain confidence with the wood. There is something like roasted hazelnuts that adds a bit of indulgence. Some vegetal and tobacco notes remain to complete this dry and balanced profile with a beautiful aromatic palette. The palate is full-bodied and leaves a thick trail on the palate. The profile evolves with more pronounced floral and herbal notes, tropical fruits and less indulgent citrus that accompany the drier side of the profile well. The wood, caramel and spices (notably chili) take over the rest of the mouth to offer a nice and balanced triad. The alcohol is very well integrated. The finish is medium and rather subtle. The herbal and earthy side led by tea brings a touch of bitterness that contrasts with the fruits (lime, pineapple) but goes hand in hand with the roasted wood and spices. Overall it offers a versatile, tasty and rather easy-to-approach rum. A good alternative to discover new horizons in the land of rum.

My first rum from Saints Lucia 🙂 Nose: Wow! Honey, pineapple and citrus fruits burst from the glass. My wife says "Kumquats" and indeed, that fits very well! The longer you take your time with the rum, the more different aromas it reveals! Mouth: exactly the continuation of the nose! Great! Additionally, the cask influences come through. Finish: here the tendency strengthens and dark chocolate and spiciness are added, the tropical fruits recede into the background. Great rum! I'll keep my eyes open for Saints Lucia rum!

Mainly esters (pineapple, green apple, citrus) in interplay with tobacco and smoke, vanilla and caramel in the background. The nose still offers a lot, but on the palate I find it unbalanced. Quite rough, sharp and spicy.

Amber Smell: At first sweet, esters, very fruity. Raisins and tropical fruits (lychee, mango, pineapple). Fudge and honey. Taste: Sweet, fruity, vanilla in the mouth, then alcoholic. Soft, creamy, elegant. When swallowing an alcoholic fruit explosion (mango, papaya, pineapple, raisins), spices, vanilla. Finish: Long. Fruity, spicy, vanilla. Slightly woody in the aftertaste. 91 points Super delicious

At the Community Tasting Nuremberg, the big cross-testing of the Chairman’s bottlings was declared the motto. First of all, I liked them all. Until then, I only knew the bottling from Kirsch and Perola. I was surprised that the taste profiles were so different and yet there was no really bad one, but also none that really stood out from the others. But when you see what you get for your money with Chairman’s in return, I really have to say CLASS. I will probably expand my collection in this area without guilt.

I like all the Master's Selection bottlings so far (that I've tried). The Evanius Harris fits well in there. I'd see it on a similar level as the RTN. Great aromas. Alcohol very well integrated and nicely rounded.

Tropical fruits, herbal notes and spices, plus some wood - tasty, but in my opinion not very present in the mouth. Maybe a few percent more would have delivered better here!

Fresh on the nose, citrus fruits, a bit of rubber. Not bad, but not a hit either. On the palate then an unexpected explosion of flavors. Honey, spicy, floral notes, caramel and the rubber from the nose. Really very intense and overall a nice special taste. The finish is quite long, sometimes a bit bitter, but otherwise lightly floral and the rubber seems to come back. Usually I know it the other way around that the nose offers more than the palate, but here it’s exactly the opposite. Purely from the palate, I would rate it quite high, but the nose is too reserved. There was still a bit left in the sample bottle, which a week later smelled distinctly like cooked ham. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough rum to test if that also happens after longer time in the glass.

St. Lucia World Cup Tasting Here you really get the unique style of Vendome. Lots of fruit and heavy leather, awesome! On the palate there's also a note that reminds a bit of Guyana but in the style unique to St. Lucia, great quality and easy to sip thanks to slight dilution. Firecracker!
