I really like this well balanced 22 year old caroni, which was finished for 3 years in used Oloroso casks. The nose is intense and stats with tannins and tar, but then descends into and oaky, herbal and medicinal bliss. The palate is dark and intense with a load of flavours. The medicinal note is still there with coffee, orange peel and the sherry cask notes. The finish is long with oak, sherry and a touch of licorice. The medicinal touch is also there. Very well balanced Caroni and I'm going to enjoy having this one on my shelf. A bit expensive but also rare with less than 1000 bottles.

A real Caroni from the first nose, mechanical workshop and tropical fruits. Much better after a few months of opening the bottle, as Caronis like oxidation. The mouth is not left out with a long finish. Very nice rum ! Tasted again and even better.

Solid Caroni with the typical dirty notes. I like it, but it's a bit alcoholic and not quite as balanced as my previous Caronis. I probably wouldn't buy a bottle.

In terms of olfactory aromas, I primarily perceive the typical dirty Caroni markers. Something fresh joins in... and that's it. The palate is almost identical, with spicy aromas in addition to the dirty ones. The fruit (dark berries) is completely absent! In my opinion, the sherry finish is barely noticeable. There is also a slight bitter note in the finish. Overall, I find this Caroni to be quite one-dimensional. It clearly lacks the complexity to be at the very top.

I like it much better the second time I taste it. I think the oxidation was important. The nose is quite complex with tar, lots of wood, menthol and some dried fruit. Alcohol comes through but is perfectly ok. In the mouth it's sweet for a short time, but immediately wood, roasted, tar, menthol freshness with subtle dried fruit. The finish is long, heavy and dry with lots of coffee, tar and wood. Fruit completely gone.

I would guess a whisky finish. I'm not really into that with Caroni!

Is tar one of Caroni's spices? Definitely interesting, but the street is too present here for me, balanced is something else.

Sage tea and tar and medicine on the nose, as well as in the taste. very mild and long not as dirty as other caronis but still not my cup of tea. I don't like sage and I just don't think I'm going to be a caroni fan, the sherry finish here tries to make some smooth and supple but for me it's just still too metallic and dirty. who's into it, go for it.
