Most tasters love the nose more than the palate, which turns woody and a touch bitter with a short-to-medium finish. Smells brilliantly chocolaty nutty with caramel and coconut in the background. In the mouth and finish, the spices dominate: spicy, pferrerig, woody. Caramel and fruit go under, if then more chocolate. In the mouth a little too spicy for me, but otherwise very good!

My feeling is that it is quite a bit outside of what I expect from a barbados. Chocolate in the aroma, and fresh notes of green pepper. In the mouth, a hint of chocolate remains, but I give way to a spicy peppery-chilli experience.

This new release is pretty good and I like this one. I do like Barbados run and this is a really nice one. The nose is amazing and just keeps giving. Very nutty with spices and oak. The palate has a nice full body with natural sweetness and nuttyness with caramel, chocolate and nutmeg. Price to quality is very good.

Nose: Spicy, vanilla, alcohol, then somehow sour, like vinegar. Palate: first sweet, caramel, spicy, woody, peppery, bitter and thin on the finish, still sharp with alcohol. Overall okay, but unfortunately no more than that.

A typical Barbados nose with predominantly dried fruits. It reminds me of a Christmas-spiced baked apple filled with rum raisins. On the palate, spicy and bitter aromas dominate together with a whisky-like grain note – the overall impression remains harmonious. After the great nose, the palate lacks some depth. This thin impression continues in the rather short finish. A nice everyday rum at a good price-performance ratio. One downside: unfortunately, the alcohol is a bit too present everywhere.

👃🏼The nose is quite strong in ethyl. Strongly carried on vanilla and coconut powder, you can quite nicely perceive dried exotic fruits. A bit of wood closes the nasal experience. 👅 My first impression was still a strong alcoholic presence, but actually not really on a second sip. On the contrary, a certain sweetness made me check the bottle and its added sugar content (0g). Caramel dominates, with coconut returning at the end of the palate. A fairly consensual rum that lacks breadth and complexity. Not bad though but too simple compared to the competition. 🎆 Average finish, on this caramel and that's it.

Despite the at least 50% alcohol, quite restrained on the nose, but unmistakably Barbados. There's also a bit of baked apple filled with a Dominostein and some almond slivers. Surprisingly bitter on the palate, otherwise, along with the basic Barbados tone, there are slightly sour pineapple or grapefruit notes and a slight chocolate hint. Overall, like most of the OTLs, a good upgrade from the standard bottlings at a reasonable price.

You can smell the spices of a tajine scented with sweet flavors... On the palate it hits hard, it's very very spicy and pungent. It lacks a bit of roundness. Yet it's quite indulgent and you find the flavors of the first nose. Nice length at the end of the palate.

Nice typical Barbados rum. Spicy, raisin, barrel and a bit of nut. The taste can't quite keep up with the very nice nose. Finish only medium length and then slightly bitter at the end. Alcohol integration is not so good. But I still like it.

Less coconut and butterscotch than I usually find in rum from Barbados - although it's still present. Classic Barbados rum fruit notes is also present. The finish is short, so you gotta sip to it quite often. The cognac finish is very clear in it, which makes sence since half the age of this rum is spend in cognac casks (4,5 years). Personally, I prefer Doorlys 14 which is in the same price range. D14 is slightly more balanced when it comes to the abv, and the butterscotch notes and creamy texture makes it a real pleasure to drink - and the finish is quite long compared to this rum. If you prefer cognac over madeira finish, you might find this rum on par or even better than D14. It is without doubt a great rum when it comes to price/quality ratio.

The cold is still there... But on the nose you don't feel the harshness of the alcohol... It's even pleasant. The nose hairs appreciate it... What a beautiful softness. The floral is magical after letting your glass breathe a bit. A bit of esters come to play with the flowers in a rounded way... Yum... Can't wait for the palate... Yeah... The 51.1° are definitely there... It explodes in your mouth... Floral, fruity and peppery play together... A nice mix... Ah Barbados never disappoints. The medium-long finish perfectly completes the mouthfeel. What more to say...

Surprisingly very dry and roasted bitter fruity Barbados rum, the grapefruit and nutmeg notes are decisive and very interesting. All in all, however, it is not round enough for me personally and a bit too astringent...

Blind tasting as part of the plantation calendar by Zdeněk Polách. Planteray calendar 10. Color copper. Aroma vanilla coconut, sweetness, honey. Taste sweetness, vanilla, alcoholic, spice, tobacco, caramel. Finish medium long caramel vanilla, spice, tobacco, alcohol, nuts.

Read full review ›It’s a rum more for intermediate rum fans. A beginner probably wouldn’t appreciate the price-performance ratio and for an expert it wouldn’t be interesting enough. Sales should start in the Czech Republic from October 26 and 456 bottles are available for the Czech market.

Beautiful, typical Barbados rum. Spicy, raisin, cask and a little nutty. The taste can't quite keep up with the very nice nose. The finish is also only medium-bodied and then slightly bitter at the end. Alcohol retention is not so good. But I still like it.
