This old wooden-still Enmore is dark, dry and deeply woody: pencil shavings, dried prune, old leather and mocha, with a cooling menthol streak cutting through the bitterness. There's real KFM bitterness here, but most tasters find it dialed back and better balanced than its Flensburg siblings. Long, licorice-and-mint finish that won't quit.

A very beautiful nose oscillating between dark notes, old barrel, roasted, prunes and a fresh side with vegetal, menthol, and liveliness of the alcohol. The same aromatic framework is found on the palate, with a menthol surprisingly refreshing the old wood. The finish is long, always with the same precarious but brilliant balance. The empty glass tells a story of old wood. A rum that could be found on the edge of balance but that I find fascinating. Re-tasted with more oxidation and even better than in my memory.

06.04.2026 Retasting with Fabian in Blåvand. --------- A very nice KFM. Intense and kind of heavy on the flavour. Kind of a bit dark as well and I really like that. Love the roasted/smoky wood with light spice and fruit topped with some leather.

Tasted after the Flensburg MEC. The nose is quite similar, but less drinkable, more charred aromas, burnt sugar, roasted spices behind the prune. Instead of parfumed tobacco there is dried mint and a sour note as of dry lemon peel.Also less pleasing in the mouth than the FRC and the impression of the nose is repeated. It lacks the round fruit instead there is a tart acidity in a dusty dry spicy profile.Also again the distinct licorice note of old Versailles which I do not love.It is amazing that the FRC MEC and this RA, with quite similar profiles are so far apart in my rating.Compared to FRC's KFM it is less balanced and intense. For me, on a par with the Nobilis.

Deep KFM. Not for the faint-hearted or beginners. Very strong barrel influence, which makes the rum come across as very sublime and aged. But fortunately not yet overpowering. I'm enjoying this profile more and more, also because the usual herbs are very limited here. I can't taste any of the frequently mentioned pencil leads either. Good PLV at the time of release.

An Enmore with a more "green" profile, floral and grassy, concentrated on aromas of pencil shavings, tobacco and menthol in particular, then wood, spices and dark notes come to envelop the whole before some fruity notes (prunes) come to round the angles. Elegant, a bit special but well aromatic. The attack in the mouth is more marked, impregnated with bitter notes, leather, warm spices, dried and nuts fruits, roasted notes and mocha, without forgetting herbs, pencil, thyme, tobacco and mentholated freshness. The finish is very long on the same register. A rather rustic rum, complex and concentrated, which honors its disappeared distillery.

89 points. It was with a lot of anticipation that I opened one of my bottles of this 1991 Enmore. This KFM surprised me a little as there are some minty notes on the palate. There’s also a lot of bitterness but in a good way. I’m looking forward to try this one again in a few months so that this rum will have a little time to breath.

A big thank you to Thomas for this brilliant sample! 😛😛🤤🤤 This is top-notch, a strong, heavy, complex KFM! I let the rum rest for about 30-40 minutes so it can fully unfold. Alcohol is very well integrated, although it comes across very sharp on the nose.

Wow. Impressed me a lot. My first KFM. Great spice. Whole new world of flavors. My to understand what is meant by the pencil. Classified it as a blend of roasted flavors and spice. The mint and wood are great integrated. Unfortunately horny. Look forward now to the KFM of Flensburg as a comparison.

Wow! This KFM beats them all. Instead of an oak forest, you have here rather pencil made of oak. KFM typical bitterness is present, but so mild that people who don't like bitters should be able to tolerate it. A complex spicy-herbal flavor journey.

Wow, a nose to fall in love with. Intense, complex, full-bodied. Very woody and spicy, but delicious. Old oak toasted, malty toasty. And yet very fruity with dried blood orange and sweet-tart dried currant. Maple and treacle. And again very dark with some Maggi and light licorice. Could smell it forever.The palate is as I expected from 31: strong, woody, toasty and spicy. Strongly bitter at the very beginning, but complex roasty flavors catch up quickly. Mocha, wood acidity, tobacco, maggi and some umami. Again the dried orange and currant, plus prune. Something dull like pencil shavings is there too. Great complexity.The bitter on the palate doesn't bother me at all. I think the strong flavors are great. Great rum

Wow, what a drop! KFM is always a double-edged sword for me, because I simply do not like bitterness / woodiness in rum. But what Rum Artesanal has conjured up here yet, thrilled even me! An incredibly powerful nose that makes the whole room smell intensely of dark, ripe plums. Smelled up close then rather dried plum, dried currants, orange, herbs and also a trace of pencil, as befits Enmore. Particularly noteworthy here again the bitter notes, ranging from molasses and licorice to burnt caramel to old oak, resin and really old barrel, and confirmed especially on the palate. Here these predominate, so that the fruitiness fades into the background, which I personally like less. The finish stays in the mouth forever and lingers long with notes of licorice, old barrel, mint and again some pencil. So I imagine it to lick out an in old barrel! ;-) Overall a class rum and for me one of the best KFMs, if not the benchmark so far. The nose would even get a few points more from me, but the palate I have to deduct one, two points, because it is just a bitter KFM. In total, however, it is simply fun!

I tasted this rum with the 2021'er Flensburg KFM (RX10871)Color-wise there is no difference: deep reddish brown with reddish reflections in the glass.Nose is a little more closed compared to the Flensburg with a stronger tendency towards herbs, menthol and wet tobacco.On the palate very heavy not quite as much sweetness (burnt sugar). The alcohol seems stronger in contrast to licorice and tannins, which are a tad stronger no Flensburg.In the aftertaste, the picture is very similar: not quite as bitter, milder and fading with a pleasant sweetness.A sophisticated exception rum, which is an idea more harmonious and accessible compared to the Flensburg.

... Enmore - former distillery, now just a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden distillation device in the world that enjoys great popularity. Enmore rums have flavors of ash, leather, heavy wood, which especially excite lovers of smoky whiskies. And if the producer adds a bit of molasses to the rum in the traditional Guyanese way, you have a unique, very intense and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favorites.

The needs a lot of time..Extremely concentrated nose of pencil shavings, old leather couch, rotten wood, dried herbs such as thyme, sage, nettle and mint, as well as some plum mustard and burnt caramel.Taste as expected was very bitter, oily and concentrated after leather, pencil, lots of wood, some cassis and prune, as well as dried herbs almost ethereal effect. No idea why but reminds me of these fir needle sauna infusions 🤣dazu come light mocha / coffee notes but they are very much in the background, all underpinned by bitter molasses and licorice.All in all, definitely a good rum that will find its lovers. I'm just unfortunately not a fan of these crass bitter notes and have as a child just do not like to chew on the pencil😜😉😅

Excellent rum. Very woody, but not too much. Doesn't get too bitter. Great herbal, minty notes alongside a spicy prune. Intense and concentrated. Mint and espresso linger long and licorice comes in on the finish. I really like it.

Dark notes across the board, both in fruits and spices, extending to bitterness. I like it a lot. Plums, mint and menthol as well as roasted wood, pencil, and tobacco. Impressive complexity with lots of depth and wood influence.

A '91 KFM as I love it – the typical markers are distinctly present and harmonize perfectly. The cask influence is strong but not exaggerated and provides a pleasant bitterness lasting long into the finish.

Ficht with the second Flensburg release for the crown of KFMs bottled since 2020 from 1991. For me, the Flensburg is a touch ahead because it comes along even rounder. But both are excellent representatives from Guyana and further evidence of the complexity of the Enmore bottlings.

A super KFM. On the nose you get pencil shavings, wood and anise. Then in the taste bitter and oily with prune and mocha. Then in the finish still mint and licorice. Very complex and multilayered.

You can sense that there's something quite exceptional here, but unfortunately it's not entirely to my taste. The nose is magnificent, but the palate is very, very smoky, woody, with mocha and spice. I could compare this rum to Mordor!

In the other glass, the Flens KFM (2021 release). Both are somehow quite beasts 😝 In the RA next to prune, leather, oak barrel, polish also a fresh, light menthol note. In comparison, the RA seems a bit more intense, it also comes a bit more over the spices (cardamom, allspice), but admittedly all very close to the edge of imagination. On the palate, the Flens seems a bit rounder (less bitter) and the finish feels a touch longer. Overall a stalemate, which is why the RA also gets 89 points.

1st:the rich herb and dense thickness impress a lot A fantastic journey, with wood forest smells setting the tone for adventure, but very balanced and full (especially compared to other KFM). The herbaceous aromas combine with the spices to create a unique "pencil" flavor, and the toasty aromas accompany the whole process. It's like being in a lumberyard, or a barbecue, maybe in a chemistry lab. amazing! Without a hint of excess sweetness, it unexpectedly has a touch of good dry gin/old Tom gin. It might lack some fruity sweetness(or pleasure of candy? ) and be a bit strange, but the flavors are so concentrated and complex. Unusual rum, but also excellent.

Two KFM bottlings today, the rum Artesanal and Levy Lane. Of course, both are heavy, dark and woody. The RA has a lovely minty note on the nose, palate and finish. There is also prune and orange peel. Lots of wood, but not yet over my personal limit. Great rum! Where can I get a bottle now? Oh yes, in this comparison the RA is ahead for me.

Edit 24.10.2026: Tastes better to me every time. Adjusted up by 2 points again. I had a hard time for a long time with the Guyanas aged for a long time on the continent. But now I've come to like it, so I'm adjusting significantly upwards. Thanks to Jarek for the sample.

Really beguiling malty in the nose (as it pleases me in particular REVs), the rum falls unfortunately too much for my liking on the palate, because just too intrusive bitter-woody, downright dry as dust. May find its lovers, but me has the 30-year-old FRC KFM tasted better. That got 88 points from me over half a year ago. This one accordingly less. Nevertheless, a good rum with independent characteristics.

A lot of aeration is needed for the nose to open up to something other than wood. But when the time comes, leather and prune dominate. On the palate, it's very surprising. Everything explodes: prunes, mocha, mint, leather. All with a very present woodiness. It could even have bordered on wood juice. It's distinctive but very complex and pleasant. Wiser finish. Long finish. Superb experience.

Very nice KFM with the typical dark notes of wood, bitterness, espresso, dark tones, some mustiness. The bitterness is still within limits. Strongly astringent, endless finish, some acidity at the back. The rum gets better and better with more time. Evening-filling, exhausting, to chew on. Unfortunately cool.

NOSE: Smouldering weeds. Charred, exotic hardwoods. Black licorice, rabarbaro amari. Dried seaweed & mussel shells. Some dark dark caramel in the background. PALATE: Immediately sweet & syrupy (black licorice syrup), but that quickly pivots. Charcoal. Fennel toothpaste. Medicated ointment. Black iron. Dentil floss, dental filling, the whole ass dentist office. FINISH: Rubber rainboots. PVC raincoat. More sweet black licorice and black iron. Menthol, ointment. Ink. Old old resinous wood, steeped in syrup. A bit of thyme in there, for good measure. OVERALL: I don’t love this, I’ll be honest. But the more I drink it, the more it makes sense. There are notes here that are just too closely associated with a dentist office, for me. Imagine getting a cavity filled, while getting flouride treatment, while someone machines iron parts & molds rubber gaskets in the room nextdoor. But, with that being said, I typically love old cask notes that are so extracted they turn volatile- almost mentholated. If you love that spectrum, this has it in spades. SCORE: 87/100
