Made for people already deep into old Demerara: this 27-year Enmore REV runs herbal and woody, with dried plum, leather, licorice and dark chocolate. The 53.1% sits so well most tasters barely notice it. The recurring catch is the herbal streak — a few find it too much, one even calls it eucalyptus and juniper — but plenty rate it a top '94 REV.

Clearly recognizable and typical 1994 REV profile. Nice plum, herbs and wood. I liked the 1st Artesanal bottling slightly better. Overall in the solid midfield, compared to other REVs of the same vintage.

Very good Enmore REV. (more or less same smells, tastes as the 2020 version) Leather, Tobacco, black tea, wood, dried fruits in the nose. Complex and delicious in mouth, where you‘ll find all the tastes from before. Finish is medium long, dry and very elegant. Alcohol is not integrated as good as in the 2020 version. 3rd place of my enmore tasting!

REV meets herbal tea...the marque remains recognizable, but rather exceptional green notes come to the fore. Dry plum, wood and spice give a rendezvous with herbs, tea and light tobacco hints. Very exciting profile, but due to the green notes in my subjective rating not quite in front in the 1994 REV environment.

Great increase to the last REV bottling. Immensely well integrated alcohol that rubs all the flavors around the palate. Beautiful reddish color. Fresh herbs, pleasant fruit (plum), pure oak from nose to finish simply delicious.

Nose is already very woody but there is still some herbaceous freshness. In the mouth then very woody, astringent, from the fresh herbs has remained only some tobacco. Then comes the all overlaying, intense licorice note that remains in the mouth for minutes. I don't like licorice 🤷♂️ Clearly too woody for my tasteRusty together with the two RA 2004 and the SBS 2006. This 1994 REV falls a bit off the grid, on one hand the herbaceousness of the 2004, on the other the dried fruit from the 2006. For me, it's all the same marrow, even if this one has a special position thanks to its age and lots of wood.

Same nose as in my old great-great-grandparent's joiner room (like carpenter's pitch) ... Enmore - a drive distillery, now only a functional distillation device. Probably the only wooden distillation device in the world that enjoys great popularity. Enmore rums have flavors of ash, leather, heavy wood, which especially excites lovers of smoky whiskies. And if the producer adds a bit of molasses to the rum in the traditional Guyanese way, you have a unique, very pronounced, and heavy rum in the bottle. One of my favorites.

A fantastic Enmore where you can feel all the aging and complexity. The nose shows extremely fragrant dark aromas, both from the oak barrel and the mocha coffee, leather, hot caramel, burnt sugar, toasted notes, as well as warm and shimmering spices (cinnamon, licorice, chili). Dried fruits are abundant (prune, raisin) as well as plum and red fruits that add roundness and balance. The herbal and floral notes are absolutely divine and make all the difference on the nose. A radiant profile. The attack on the palate is intense, warm, and comforting with spices (chili, licorice), notes of leather, coffee, and dark chocolate. It’s extremely dark, with noble and roasted woody notes. The dried fruits and plum remain as indulgent as ever, but it’s the freshness of tobacco, flowers, and herbal notes that bring this complexity and the feeling of a complete and delicious rum in the mouth. A balanced profile with infinite elegance, with perfectly mastered alcohol. The finish, extremely long, becomes drier and more tannic with a more pronounced woody bitterness. The finish continues with dark, woody, earthy, and spicy aromas (licorice). The dried fruits fade while the herbal notes become more medicinal. A superb evolving profile, relaxing, rich, and complex as desired. An enchanting and wonderful rum that has become a reference.

I have started on bottle number two :-) A great rum with a flavour profile literally jumping you from the glass once poured. Very fruity from nose to finish with roasted oak to it. Only slightly dry which only compliments the profile. A great rum even considering the price.

The 94er REV remains for me among the interesting but not favored profiles. This one is a stronger representative of the brand and has a very good reputation and many fans. The herbal notes bother me. Very versatile and complex. A rum where you can always find something new. Great value for money at the release.

Right from the nose, it's pure happiness. Dark, deep Demerara. Aromas of prunes, licorice, and very vegetal. On the palate, the woodiness is very present, which is normal given the age of this beast, but it leaves room for everything else. This is a great Demerara. Thanks, Chris!

Crosstasting 2025 – Guyana REV 1994 Vintage After ten tastings, it can be said: You can't go wrong with the REV 1994. The vintage stands for consistently high quality and is a real flagship for Guyana rum. Versatile, deep, and full of character. The basic markers (plum, leather, licorice, dark chocolate, and black tea) are found in varying degrees in all bottlings. Conclusion: The REV 1994 vintage shows the range of Demerara rum: from creamy-sweet to smoky-roasty to complex-dry. Despite the different signatures of the bottlers, the core remains clearly recognizable. An outstanding year that shows a lot of class. The tasting was demanding, however, as over time the roasted aromas dominated the bouquet and I had to take breaks to perceive the subtle differences. Artesanal REV 1994 Herbaceous at first impression, then round and harmonious. All components feel well integrated, the alcohol perfectly incorporated. Long finish, cleanly processed.

A wonderful REV. On the nose, wonderful notes of dried plum, a bit of pencil, leather, licorice, and lots of herbs. An absolutely well-rounded experience with perfectly integrated alcohol and a wonderful honey sweetness. Lots of licorice, herbs, and leather. An excellent Guyanese rum that tastes fantastic and is simply fun.

Beguiling fragrance in the room, wonderful! Nose: woody, spicy and fruity. Intense and complex, not closed. The fruitiness is reminiscent of ripe blood orange with some cherry and cassis. There is something caramelly, resinous and leathery. Slight wood acidity with a hint of menthol. In direct comparison, the old REV seems a little more caramelly, otherwise difficult to distinguish... Palate: dark, roasty, spicy and woody. Salty-bitter at first, then woody acidity, intense and complex. Behind it nutmeg with prunes. Heavily toasted with hazelnut. The old one seems more balanced. TOP!

Oh, nice. This is intense, and despite the small sample I take my time here. This starts with a very inviting nose, very fruity (plum) and also lots of wood. Old, dusty wood. The palate changes as the Rum goes forward, first little bit of fruity sweetness, then more herbal and in the aftertaste it becomes very wood influenced (but not bitter!) with some licorice, and I get something I rarely taste: leather. The ABV is also barely noticeable. A great Rum, one should make sure to give it attention.

Today a REV tasting... there were four 1994s (Wild Parrot LMDW, RumClub Ed. 22, Rum Artesanal Ed. 2, and Valinch & Mallet). Plus something out of the ordinary, the 2006 from Nobilis. The RA is rather on the spicy and herbal side, more wood than Nobilis 2006 and V&M 1994. Tasty, but among the outstanding competition, it's my least favorite. Additional: I left all five in the glass for a long time (>1h). Then the violet note, more or less described by others, came through in all. For me, it's rather disturbing, soapy. It was strongest in the Nobilis.

Great nose, lots of mint and wood but also molasses and very complex. Very long finish, only a bit too astringent on the palate and for the 53% maybe a bit too sharp. Must be tried, but not enough for my favorite.

Another bomb! REV is an exceptionally good brand, in my opinion. This bottling delivers more herbs, tobacco, barrel, and leather than last year's. The dried fruits seem more like raisins than prunes, although a certain plum note is still present. At the GRF in direct comparison to its predecessor, this one seemed a bit rounder, less bitter, and perhaps overall more harmonious, though both are at an extremely high level. However, it should also be noted that the old bottling had already been open for half a year.

Again REV 1994. And again extreme complexity both in the nose and the mouth. In the aroma, tea, plums, and leather. The taste is incredibly smooth, transitioning from tea notes through slightly smoky flavors to chocolate and leather. Excellent!

For my taste way too strong herbal, medicinal, eucalyptus aromas and too woody. At least in the smell even juniper/gin. Bitter in the finish. I liked the comparable rums from the Guyana tasting by S.B.S. much better.

On the nose, herbal, leathery aromas spread, accompanied by raisins and spicy licorice. On the palate, the first impressions of this golden brown rum from the Enmore distillery with well-integrated 53.1% vol are reflected: dried fruits, herbs, licorice and dark chocolate. The medium finish, initially with herbs, fades into aromas of raisins.

Complex and powerful on the nose and palate. Prune, herbs, spices and strong barrel aromas alternate. The alcohol is wonderfully integrated. We really enjoyed it. Great rum that is really fun!
