A.F.D. Ron Barceló Imperial
Sipped neat it's soft and easy, with vanilla, caramel and a light woody edge — a few tasters even get baking spices and dried fruit. Most agree it's on the sweet side and short on depth, and the 38% can read a touch alcoholic when it warms up. Plenty of people drink it on ice or in a rum and cola, where it holds up nicely.

How does A.F.D. Ron Barceló Imperial taste?
Aggregated from 412 community reviews.
Sweet, easy Dominican sipper, light on depth Most call it an easy, sweet Dominican for beginners — clean vanilla and caramel, but simple and light on body. Several note the added sugar and thin finish drag it down.

A very nice, balanced aroma, dried fruits, honey, caramel, on the palate with moderate but clearly noticeable sweetness, nice fruitiness, and a harmonious, intense, spicy cask influence. Overall relatively smooth, but quite good not just for the price.

Another nice tasting finished, this time with rums from the Domenican Republic. In my mind this rum will be too sweet for many, but a good rum none the less. The complexity is hidden under the sweetness and in my mind it should have been amped up with a little more proof. Price tag is really good compared to what you get.

Pleasant rum although the addition of sugar irritates me.
Review by LukaŽiga
6,9:On the nose, there is a quite balanced profile. The aromas that make up this profile are vanilla, wood, caramel, some nuts and a hint of orange/coconut with their sweetness. We cannot avoid bourbon fruits after some aeration, like peaches, cherry. . 6,9:On the palate, the attack is soft, honeyed, caramelized, but not sweet. The woodiness is present and even takes over the other aromas, without overpowering them. So, caramel is still present, as vanilla and a hint of bourbon fruitiness, there is still some peach, a hint of an alcohol, wood spice, roastedness, bitterness. 6,8:The finish is quite long and moderately sweet. It is dominated by the notes of bourbon ageing, so the wood, coconut, peaches, vanilla and some roasted nuts, perhaps leather.

Easy sipper..... Goes down very well due to the low ABV. An ordinary rum from the supermarket around the corner. But one of the best in the range. Good for beginners. I wouldn't buy a second bottle of this.

Good entry-level rum with good PLV.

Attractive packaging but disappointing rum, admittedly at a low price. Fairly good value for money. It lacks length, depth, power and even fruitiness. But there's nothing unpleasant about it either.

It's not such a hit neat, but as a mixer, it's better than bacardi, captain and co. This rum was taken along purely as a mixer when it was on offer, where the alcoholic notes are clearly evident when pure.

A certain sweetness is noticeable in this rum. The aromas and drinkability are okay, the price is good. Probably quite suitable for beginners.

My first rum and since then never anything but rum. Already drunk, there was rum only in selected stores. Mega taste and thanks to my friend Jan, who has 14 years ago a bottle (from the Dom. Republic.) credenzt. mega!!!

Salu! 🥃

Good for mixing. Excellent beginner rum for tasting purely

Review by Rumpalumpa

Nothing special but ok for what it costs. Maybe just a bit too sweet and missing complexity.
