Very delicious rum! Nose: leather, woody, vanilla, minty, nutty, dark chocolate, ester, solvents, Mouth: delicious, elegant, dry, astrigend, intense, complex, woody, minty, licorice, dark chocholate, coffee, roasted Finish: medium to long, woody, oak, cigar, leather, trop. fruits, black pepper, caramel

Solvent, polish, glue and dried fruit on the nose. Animalistic. Very complex and very dirty and funky by Appleton standards. I could smell it forever. Lots of wood and liquorice on the palate, very complex. A very long, very nice finish. Great rum, I like it better than the 1999. Edit: In the glass again for a long time. It takes a long time to open up. Definitely the dirtiest and funkiest of the Hearts series and therefore a bit out of line. If EMB 1995/97 is one of your favorites, you've come to the right place.

Richtig intensiver tropischer Vertreter aus Jamaica! Schwer, ganz viel Fass, dennoch fruchtig und der Funk kommt auch durch! Zwischendurch, insbesondere beim Geruch könnte man auf Demerara tippen - großes Ding!

Had a sample and needed to pour it next to the 1994. It needs a lot of time to really open up, for a long time the alcohol was overpowering together with menthol . But then the dry and fruity notes start to develop. I enjoyed every little drop until the very end of the long woody bitter-chocolate finish. It was more funky compared to the 1994, but definitely not as funky as a lot of other Jamaicans.

I have finally found the perfect chocolate to reset and enhance my palate when tasting. I can recommend the 70% chocolate from Peru made from the Chuncho Bean (Trinidad). This bottle is also a really nice one and there is no doubt that it's an Appleton Estate in the nose nor the palate. A great rum probably already sold out. It was gone here in Denmark the day it was released and the bottle prices have already skyrocketed.
