Overripe banana and pineapple lead here, with big estery notes, fresh grass and a floral, spicy edge — a blend of Ghanaian agricole and funky Jamaican molasses rum. Members loved the fruit-basket nose and how young and wild it drinks. At 65.3% it runs hot, so most add a drop of water to tame the sharp finish and open up the fruit.

A madness this smell! A true fruit explosion without being off-puttingly sweet. The only criticism would be the somewhat sharp finish ... this rum was therefore actually the first I drank with a few drops of water, which takes away the sharpness in the finish and emphasizes the fruit notes even more.

And the third in the group: the Nanny. Also here on the nose a very strong fruity note, with a hint of olive and something fresh. On the palate the 65.3% hit hard again! After some time, fruit notes of banana and candied fruits come through! The finish is dominated by pepper and vegetal, the agricole character shows again! Of all three Ghana rums, only the Honey-Batcher could somewhat convince me.

Today 20.8.25 quite some time has passed and the second opened bottle is also nearing the end. Now it drinks a bit more relaxed without losing the aromas. Therefore I stick to my rating. A really underrated rum at a great price at release. Too bad I was always just a leftover user😅 but it was a pleasure! And thanks Spirit of Rum for this innovation! --------- Nanny is simply uniquely good. Nose is mega funky with a basket full of pears and plenty of esters. On the palate then more banana and a nice warm, more floral-spicy finish. Looking forward to Nanny Batch 2, the cask sample at GRF was promising 😊

This was the surprise of the evening. A rum blended from two continents and a bottom shelf rum. This one, thinking about the price tag, is a super good rum. When released the price tag was under 50 euro! Very fruity with grass and young wood. I was lucky to bring home the remainder of the bottle which I will savour for a long time to come. This product shows that rum doesn't have to be expensive to compete with the top shelf ones.

For me the most successful blend I've tasted so far. Unmistakable explosion of flavors, a fruit basket with lots of overripe banana and pineapple. And a perfect proof that really good rum doesn't have to be expensive nowadays.

Very interesting fruity rum. Nose: a bit estery😅 notes of banana, mandarin, citrus, fresh, spice Palate: light esters, pineapple, banana, grass, young wood, spice. Seams more to a jamaican 😅 Finish: Medium long, warm and more on the woodier side.

On the nose full load of esters: solvent, pome fruit, banana. Plus some floral freshness. Interesting representative from Ghana, the 65% don't show on the nose at all. On the palate the 65% do show though. The young age is noticeable. The esters remain. Lots of fruit especially banana. Could be a young WP with a floral hay note. Overall very interesting and makes you look forward to longer aged versions.

Edit: Simply an easy super sipper for in between during the day. To express my gratitude to Jakob, I just had to replace the photo now. He's in good hands with me. After the sample is now empty, he’s just waiting to be opened by me. Finally found someone who still had some of the Nanny in the cupboard. Thanks Chris. What an awesome blend from Ghana and Jamaica. Outstanding for this price, especially since it probably existed once. Too bad I'm unfortunately too late. I would have loved to buy a bottle, if not more.

My RumRatings review from 5 years ago: The rum is intense and sharp on the nose. It should be allowed to breathe for at least 30 minutes. The nose has a lot of fermented aromas. You really have to like that. The ester aromas remind me of fermented pears and have a lot of acidity. There's a bit of grassy with citrus swinging along. On the palate, the rum is surprisingly sweet. The pear is less noticeable here. The ester becomes thicker with tropical fruits and a light wood note. The whole thing should be enjoyed with some caution as the alcohol is present. An exciting experience but not quite to my taste. Trying the rum was very interesting. However, I wouldn't buy it. It's not balanced enough for me and has too much acidity.

Clearly stronger smell than the Cudjoe, reminiscent of Rum-Bar Overproof, just a bit tamed. Very dry in the mouth. But a great play of aromas from initially spicy notes that then turn grassy and finally into a nice creamy banana note. The smell is a bit too olive-like for me, otherwise a great and complex piece. Adding a few drops of water hardly changes the nose, but the dry-spicy notes are somewhat softened in taste, which balances the rum a bit better as a whole, gives the other notes more room and overall improves it in my eyes. Without water 79 points, with water 82.

Tasted blind. Nose on fruity Jamaican type, a bit of smoke, remains light and probably very young. The palate confirms the nose, adding green olive, brine, and a handful of fresh herbs that cast doubt on the distillery. Feels like a very young Hampden with a continentally aged Monymusk side. Medium finish on fruit and herbs. Good value for money.

Both on the nose and on the palate a wild and sometimes somewhat exhausting party rises with juicy-fresh, fruity and spicy components, then in the long finish it slows down clearly and ends smoothly. It's not something I need regularly in my glass, but in the right mood the 'Nanny' with its unrestrained power gives me a lot of joy.

Nice blend that surprised me a lot! Great esters from Jamaica, combined with exciting grassy notes from the sugarcane juice from Ghana. Young and wild, yet surprisingly balanced. Unique and actually a must to have tried. Compliments to Berlin!

Personally, I think it's good that the Rumclub bottlings don't get totally overrun, but they really bring out awesome stuff. Admittedly, the Nanny is a bit sharp and a little sour, but the composition of the fruit esters is incredible - especially for this price level - even though I can't find it anywhere anymore. An agricole that develops towards molasses with pineapple and banana, fused together by vanilla, which is present in a way I hadn't known before. Almost a bit like Fiji.

Great blend. Funky Jamaica harmonizes excellently with the grassy-floral notes from Ghana. If the alcohol wasn’t so present, even after a long standing time. Still a strong blend.
