One taster calls this the "dirty" Caroni done right — the tar and rubber are all there, then a gentle sweetness rolls in and rounds the whole thing off. Underneath sit burnt sugar, dried apricot, leather and a menthol edge that tips minty on the finish. At 58% it's warm but well behaved, more balanced than a wild ride on burning tyres. A long, dry, faintly bitter close seals it.

8,9:On the nose, toasted wood notes like caramel, nuts, dark chocolate, leather, spicy, tar and rubber, dirty, heavy, menthol, dried apricots, raisins and citrus fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, molasses is minty, herbaceous, earthy, oak brings allspice, vanilla, biscuits and burnt sugar, smoky touch and metallic patina joins. 8,8:On the palate, the attack is intense, heavy with industrial tar and rubber, dirty, some menthol and later petrol, slightly alcoholic and bitter, fruity with dried apricots, raisins and green fruits, slightly fermented with dairy hints, the wood is roasted/charred with caramel, confectionery, spicy with vanilla, meaty, as molasses is dark with licorice, candied, minty and herbaceous. 8,9:The finish is long, dry&tannic, warm with spicy toasted oak, notes like nutmeg, allspice, creamy caramel, leather, industrial with rubber and tar, petrol, some menthol, fruity with berries, dried apricots and raisins, citrus fruits, molasses is vegetal. RX22620: very superficial Caroni. Interesting to understand what many mean when they talk about "dirty" aromas. Unfortunately lacks intensity and complexity. 82 points. RX 7871: here too you can get a good impression of a 1998 Caroni. A bit fruitier, lighter, less dirty but also little complex. 82 points. RX21085: Oh yes baby, this is already a somewhat better caliber, though not outstanding. Crazy dark color, nicely dirty and fruity in the finish. Delicious! 88 points.

Very balanced, pleasant, typically complex Caroni profile but with a subtle, pleasant sweetness. The finish is wonderfully long with a slight bitterness. Wonderful. Thanks to Leo for this sample!

Hier eher der typische dreckige Caroni mit den tollen Gummi und Teer Noten, dann kommt die Süße dazu, was ihn meines Erachtens toll abrundet und den guten Switch bringt, was man von so einer Abfüllung erwartet.

A round, unagitated representative of the Caroni bottlings. The nose is pleasantly soft and catchy, vanilla with strong wood aromas, rubber and tar. On the palate there are the expected aromas such as rubber, light notes of burnt sugar, dark fruit and a hint of mint, which tips slightly into menthol in the finish. Very pleasant and round, not a wild ride on burnt rubber tires. Thanks Leo for the split!
