21.02.2022 Going through some samples at home. Notes Medium to dark in colour. Nose Light roasted wood, citrus, light sweetness, dried fruit, faint caramel. Palate Light roasted wood, faint smoke, citrus, naturally sweet, fruity, faint caramel, faint chocolate. Finish Medium long, naturally sweet, faint peat, fruits, faint caramel, light wood.

3rd bottle in the Christmas calendar. (I also had it as a sample about half a year ago...) Islay finish was clear at the latest on the palate, initially thought of WP, but it was too sweet for that. So Panama. Bullseye! Nose: fruity-spicy, smoky, slight lemon freshness. Pepper, nutmeg, vanilla. Strong-sweet-peaty with some banana. That's Islay. Palate: peaty, roasted, sweet! Plus a bit of anise, vanilla and banana, a bit salty. Now even clearer - Islay cask! Same in the finish. If you like this kind of maturation, this is a nice, compact, round one.

Very complex and damn delicious! The fantastic mouthfeel at the high alcohol strength is particularly impressive. I can well imagine that this rum would have been very nice and convincingly good even without the finish in the smoky Islay whisky cask, but this slight peaty smoky note adds another interesting layer of flavor complexity.
