Malecon Rare Proof 2002
Orange peel, dried plums and warm cinnamon lead here, over a caramel-and-molasses base that stays sweet but not cloying. At 51.2% the extra proof keeps that sweetness in check, which is why several tasters call this the Malecon in the Rare Proof line they'd actually reach for. One member sums it up as "direct, woody and interesting" — a Spanish-style sipper with more spice and length than most.

Sweet, spiced Panama sipper with orange Most find it a pleasant, spiced Spanish-style sipper with orange, prune and a long finish. A few call the profile one-dimensional and note the added color and sugar.

This is the last Malecon in the “Rare Proof” series for me to taste. It’s like the others some of the best sweet “Spanish styled” rum in my opinion cause the ABV around 50% balance the sweetness in a good way.

Direct, woody and interesting - oaky

Nase wenig zwischen würzig und acl. Zunge irgendwas zwischen süß, würzig, Holz, Sprit... Wie gewollt und nicht gekonnt. Nix halbes und nix Ganzes. Nicht meins, schade.

This is my first Spanish-style rum that I can really get something out of. Nice, somewhat more complex aroma of spices, some wood and orange. The taste doesn't disappoint either and again spices and orange are present. The finish is warm and of medium length.

Schöne Süße mit Anklängen von trockenen Früchten überlagert von einem Kräuter - Potpourri. Besonders bemerkenswert ist der sehr lange Abgang

Nice spaniel. Although lately I have the feeling that sweet rums don't do anything for me anymore, this was pleasantly different. Dried fruit with a bit of spice and a longer, very pleasant finish. I'll repeat myself again. A perfect rum for a non-rum visit.
