Really good Hampden! For me, the Nobilis 1993 still has the best nose I could try so far (olfactory the Essens Hampden, I can sniff it for hours) ...Taste he still does not need to hide ... definitely a highlight!

04.10.2025 Retasting at the Nobilis Warehouse Tasting #3 ------------ I was not fast enough so had to get a sample from a friend. The rum was sold out in less than 3 minutes! This is the best Hampden I have ever tasted. The balance and well integrated proof is a piece of heaven. The nose is truly Hampden from the moment you open and there is a lot of "fish" to it. What I mean is like the smell of sashimi at the sushi restaurant combined with the normal Jamaica funk. The palate is unique and pretty good. I just got a sample of the Golden Devil 27 Hampden and that one is even better.

Absolutely fantastic nose. Still exceptionally good in taste, but no longer quite on the same level as the olfactory impression. But that would almost be too good to be true. Still wonderfully complex on the palate with a mix of fruit stars, heavy sweetness, wood, and smoke – a magnificent Hampden!

What a board! 💣 C<>H as it is written in the book! Much more beastly and funky than the 1992. Much more power and significantly more complexity than if it had been given a little more tropical maturation. Fully ripe caramelized pineapple, salty-sour olive brine, juicy mango with spicy ginger, velvety sweet white chocolate and caramel, lime zest, citrus marmalade and plenty of glue and esters. An incredibly beautiful thick and oily viscosity with a pleasant sweetness and an almost endless finish. Actually reminds me subtly of the 2010 warren khong Hampden... Really, really cool and quite rightly rated so highly!

An outstanding Hampden with an intense ester load and tropical fruit fullness. On the nose, overripe pineapple, banana, and a hint of glue dominate, accompanied by subtle woody notes. On the palate, ripe banana, citrus fruits, and a fine spiciness unfold, giving the rum depth. The alcohol is excellently integrated and provides a long, harmonious finish. An impressive bottling.

A nose to fall in love with! Everything you expect from Hampden, incredibly concentrated and complex. Breathtaking! On the palate still very good, but the high bar set by the nose couldn’t be maintained. Still a truly exceptional Hampden!

Now I've gone through all the relevant old Hampdens of the 90 & 93 vintages. I am and remain rather on team "tropical aging" and anyway on team "Guyana & Trinidad" and for Jamaica rather in the middle to lower ester range. But a few of these popular rums could already stand out and shine. Overall, I liked the 1993 vintage more and this release remains positive in my memory (together with the Salon du Rhum).

This bottling immediately shows its famous profile. On the nose, lacquer, tropical notes and a hint of milk and coconut. On the palate, a strong citrus freshness dominates, along with vanilla and the typical nail polish tone and the Hampden-typical dunder taste. It feels like a condensed tropical fireworks, with additional cherry, raspberry and wood on the finish. The long aftertaste rounds off the experience. An impressive rum.

Incredible nose. I could smell the rum while the glass was still on the table. 🥰 It was exceptionally good in the mouth as well. Outstanding, one of the best Hampdens that I have tasted so far.

A C<>H as it is written in the book - probably one of the best Hampdens I've ever had in the glass, as it perfectly integrates every marker into the overall picture. It is so intense that it fills the room completely in a few minutes, so you can still smell its funky aromas for a long time afterwards. I love this rum!

I'll join the rest of the community in saying that this is a hampden with an absolutely phenomenal nose, but it doesn't fall short for me in terms of taste. Wonderful C<>H, which is almost always a hit with these older vintages. Here it's one of the highlights.

The nose is incredibly expressive: power, esters, fruitiness... with a perfectly complex balance. This explosive mark C<>H is put on its pedestal with this long continental aging. It's amazing, this solvent-like glue that lingers in the room for a long time... The attack on the palate is astringent, giving the mouth time to adopt this will-o'-the-wisp. Then you discover caramelized pineapple, olive, basil. A real cake of overripe and full-bodied tropical fruits. The finish is infinite and warm on grilled pineapple with a slight bitterness.

Blown away - fantastic Hampden, maby the best i have had so far. Amazing nose - Fruity, fresh, yet suttle and sweet oily and amazingly pleasent and inviting. Taste is so smooth, even for the powerhouse of 65,8% abv that I sexy integrated in the fruity, light citrus, funky, oily taste with an amazingly long afterburner in the most pleasent way. So glad there is a bottle left on the shelf and some samples also. Amazing Rum Juice from Hampden! Cheers!

A very great representative of the 1993 vintage. All markers are impressively present. What should be positively mentioned is the perfect alcohol integration. The finish is incredibly complex with beautiful light smokiness and great tropical fruits with plenty of esters. The perfection of Hampden. There is nothing better.

Absolutely nuts on nose! Intensive tropical fruit bomb filled with rich esters. Whole room got filled with this rum. One could smell it for hours. Palate is elegant, complex, little sweet but still ok, banana, lime, chocolate, caramel, wood and smoke, glue, such complex. Long tasty finish. This is amazing Hampden, one of the best I had in mouth. I wish I could get a bottle one day.
