Cane-juice Clairin drinkers already chasing that raw Haitian rawness will feel at home here. Fresh grass, sugarcane and a lick of lime lead, with acetone and glue underneath and a briny, olive-ish vegetal streak that keeps things savory. Dirty like many Clairins. These Haitian rums are not for sensitive palates. They can be aggressive just like this Vaval, but tasting after tasting you learn to appreciate and love them. If aerated for a while it is better.

Kann mich leider auch nicht so wirklich zu überzeugen, wirkt leicht verwässert dank des niedrigen ABV. Ansonsten ein normaler Clairin, wieder sehr pflanzlich und floral, Erde, Gras und Zuckerrohr lassen sich auch hier erkennen.

Tasted this pot still Clairin, made from cane juice, out in the Stockholm archipelago. The nose is intense, funky, fruity and vegetal with scents of acetone, glue, hay and grass. At the palate it’s intense, balanced, dry and fruity with flavors of citrus. The finish is medium long and dry.

8,4:On the nose, fresh grassy, minty, herbaceous, fermented sugarcane, flowery, spicy with ginger, vegetal with briny olive, yoghurt, cheese, esters and glue, smoky bacon, almonds, tropical fruits like litchi, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, new fermented vegetal notes arise, like red bell peppers, tomatoes, now slightly rotten, pungent, red pepper, smoky, burnt rubber, finally even cereal...a great complexity. 8,2:On the palate, the attack is strong with esters, solvents, fermented sugarcane, grassy, flowery, fresh with tea, vegetal with briny olive, pungent, slightly bitter, spicy with ginger peppery, similarity with sake or fruit schnapps comes into our mind, as we notice citrus, red and green fruits. 8,3:The finish is medium long, dry, slightly burnt, smoky with crunchy bread, phenol, the sugarcane and fruits are fermented, notes from palate linger on, joined with anise.

Ein recht kräftiger Vertreter der Abfüllungen aus Haiti. Statt nahezu sanft und gefällig wie Casimir oder Sajous kommt der Kamerad sehr kantig und heftig daher, recht würzig und fleischig. Man muss ihn einige Zeit atmen lassen, wenn man ihn pur trinken will, sonst wird's eher unangenehm. Müsste man mal im Ti'Punch testen

Northern Lights Meeting 2025: On the nose super fresh: grass, sugarcane, fresh meadow. Then fruit and sugar. On the mouth sweetish, fresh, lime and a hint of eucalyptus. Finish is short but fruity. I like it!

Dieser weiße Clairin gefällt mir ebenfalls sehr gut. Er hat nicht diese fleischigen und Käsigen Noten wie RX4183, ist dafür aber auf der pflanzlichen und fruchtigen Seite ausgeprägt. In der Nase habe ich frische, pflanzliche Noten mit Zuckerrohr, Kräutern, tropischen Früchten, grüner Paprika, Oliven, Gras, Litchi und Mandeln. Am Gaumen fallen die sehr gut eingebundenen 50% auf, die dem Antritt eine schöne Süße von Zuckerrohr und tropischen Früchten verleihen. Dann folgen grüne, pflanzliche und erdige Noten mit Olive, Eukalyptus, dann Litchi, Birne, Limette, Ingwer und Ester. Der mittellange Abgang ist wieder pflanzlich, fruchtig, mit Geranie, Litchi, Zitrusfrüchten, Olive, Veilchen, Zuckerrohr und Anis. Wer weißen Rum mag, sollte sich auch diesen mal anschauen. Verkostet beim Rum Schnacker Club-Tasting 2026 Super schöner, weicher Agricole Lt. Etikett hat er 55.1%. Das weiche von den Bildern hier ab. Zuckerrohr und mineralische Aromen, ganz mild und weich. Der Alkohol ist super eingebunden. Im Nachgang leicht salzig. Bleibt lange am Gaumen

03.04.2020 Nice private tasting with a new group of rummies. Notes. Transparent in colour. Nose Fresh, tomato, olive, clove, light licorice, light citrus. Palate Fresh, warm, olive, citrus, ginger, light licorice, mint. Finish Medium long, spicy/warm, ginger, light licorice, faint rubber.

Anfangs hat er eine leichte Schwefelnote, die aber nach längerer Standzeit wieder weggeht. Ansonsten ist er sehr gefällig. Schöner langer Zuckerrohr Abgang und der Alkohol ist perfekt integriert. auf der fruchtigen Seite.

I expected more, both on the nose and palate. The alcohol does not push much. Otherwise, both as taste and scent, it makes it immediately clear that this is a white Clairin. (PS: the rating, like impressions, are purely personal)

On the nose: glue, brine, vegetal notes and a hint of oyster-like marine notes. I must say, I'm not a big fan. On the palate, the vegetal notes take over, with a little lemon zest thrown in for good measure. Medium iodized and metallic finish.

It's similar to coriander, you either love it or hate it, for me I love it. It's a completely different type of rum than I usually drink, others compare it a lot to slivovitz (plum brandy) rather than rum.. it's something different than 'regular rum'.
