8,7:On the nose, sugarcane honey, fresh(tea), grassy, herbaceous, flowery, mineral, earthy, toasted wood with pastry, chocolate, nuts, vanilla, yellow fruits, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, pineapple and hints of banana join, green, dried fruits, the canecis candied, peppery, toastedness brings caramel, fruitcake and nutmeg. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is intense, strong, dry with fresh(tea), earthy, mineral sugarcane, flowery(geranium, lavender), grassy, herbaceous, peppery, toasted wood with caramel, pastry, caramelized sugar, cappuccino, hazelnuts, spicy vanilla and fruity with dried, tropical, yellow and citrus fruits. On oxidation, sweet honey is out. 8,7:The finish is long, dry and tannic with fermented sugarcane, candied, all the notes from palate linger on with fruits and toasted oak aswell.

This weekend finally enjoying some higher quality rums again. Here a great Agricole from Rhum J.M. The nose is very refreshing, we mainly have sugarcane but also some vanilla. On the palate then wood/barrel and spices, especially pepper.

Rather the young, vegetal and unripe Agricole. Far from the smoothness of the nose of a J.M RX12020. Sugarcane, herbs and vegetal are present. Honey and roasted. In the mouth the rum turns around and you find intense barrel aromas. Spice, leather, roasted aromas, sugarcane, licorice, chocolate etc. But it's not ultimately smooth either.

Like a summer day in a hay meadow. A wonderful Agricole. Peppery notes, a bit of wood and then that beautiful grassy herbal note. Wonderful, extremely tasty. Slowly I'm becoming an Agricole fan.

This is exactly mine... fruity and intense, later vanilla cream on the nose! Intensely grassy and slightly woody on the palate, with a subtle sweetness! The finish is also grassy and intense...simply delicious.....

A nice red-golden color. The nose impression of this sample does not really match some of the tasting notes for me. I have rather dry wood notes, plus dried apricots, sugarcane sweetness and something caramel-like. On the palate then clearly more wood, spice, roastiness and even a slight bitterness at the end. Also sugarcane mixed in here. The fairly long finish on the woody and spicy parts. Only in the aftertaste a bit of classic young Agricole. Tastes better when sipping than the tasting note reads.

My RumRatings review from 4 years ago: The rum is very fresh on the nose. Grassy agricole notes combine with nice citrus fruits. Then comes a fine vanilla note and a light fruitiness. Then some spicy bourbon notes. A great agricole nose. On the palate the rum is fresh again. A fine sweetness pairs with grass and citrus fruits. Tannins come through and it gets a bit spicier towards the finish. Pepper and bourbon. The finish is bitter and astringent. Agricole notes remain for a long time. A fresh agricole that lacks a bit of complexity. But still a nice rum with a good punch. Anyone who gets a bottle can surely grab it if they like agricole.

On the nose it is fragrant with sweet cane, herbs, toasted peanuts and a sour note. On the palate, sweet cane, grass, earth, peanuts, a bit of pepper and a final note almost sour/winey/alcoholic that costs it some points (8.4), but letting it rest and warming it with the hand makes it disappear, raising the score to 8.8/.9 (because despite the body it has that aroma I prefer of geosmin). It leaves a great dry and earthy aftertaste. I am surprised how C. de Montaguère manages to find an aromatically coherent profile among bottlings from different distilleries. In the empty glass, young wood and unripe fruits emerge. Thanks to Jens for the opportunity.
