Tres Hombres Foursquare Captain’s Choice Ed. 40 2007
Foursquare fans chasing something fruitier than usual will get the most out of this. The brandy/bourbon cask brings orange peel, mandarin and Sicilian-style citrus marmalade, backed by vanilla, baking spice and a surprising green, grassy edge on the finish. One taster put it as "very well integrated" cask influence. At 63.2% it runs warm, and a few felt the alcohol could sit better.

How does Tres Hombres Foursquare Captain’s Choice Ed. 40 2007 taste?
Aggregated from 17 community reviews.
Citrus-heavy, spicy cask-strength Foursquare Most rate it highly — a citrus-forward, spice-laden Foursquare that several found more interesting than the Patrimonio. The main quibble is heat: the alcohol isn't fully tucked in.

Tasted today with the Velier Patrimonio as a reference.Nose: A beautiful sweetness rises to me from the glass! Compared to the Patrimonio is clearly more fruit, especially citrus. Bourbon and vanilla are omnipresent.Mouth: Again the citrus, like Sicilian lemon marmalade. And typical Foursquare vanilla, bourbon and now the barrel. The Patrimonio has not so much fruitiness and more spice and barrel.Finish: The Tres Hombres has a surprising grassy / green note, and presents all the flavors even in the finish with a shifted emphasis towards spice. The Patrimonio is very similar here with an idea more spice.Great rum and m.M.n. more exciting than the Patrimonio, which is "too round" for me in direct comparison

In my opinion very well integrated brandy cask influence. Very intense - mix between orange peal, mandarins, lots of spices and some light sour dry fruits.

Interesting rum that sets itself apart from other Foursquare bottlings with fruity notes reminiscent of port wine. Alcohol could be a little better integrated.

Spice (vanilla, nutmeg) and the notes of the bourbon / brandy barrel (finish) dominate on the nose. The palate is rather toasty with dark chocolate and cappuccino. Blind I would probably have guessed a Spaniard (some proximity to the Ed. 15 CC).
