La Favorite Exploration No. 2 2015

Sip it neat and the barrel work does the talking — toasted oak up front, then dried apricot, mango and a roasted, faintly smoky edge on a medium-long finish. One taster loved the "nice roasted/smoky note," and the citrus-and-herbal side keeps it fresh rather than heavy. Balanced and elegant for such a young agricole, though a couple find the palate milder than the nose promises.

With a medium to long finish this rum comes at you with nice oak and fruits. Coffee, chocolate and licorice are there too. There is a nice roasted/smoky note in there as well which I like. Wonderful Agricole.

Avg Rating 8.1/10 over 220 Rums

La Favorite is the last working distillery inside Martinique's capital, Fort-de-France, and the island's longest continuously family-run house. Five generations of the Dormoy family have made rhum here on a 1906 steam engine that still turns the mill. It is agricole at its most unvarnished, and the community treasures its old La Flibuste vintages as some of the finest aged Martinique rum there is.
