Oak leads the whole way here — a warm, woody nose with vanilla, cocoa, spice and a little dried fruit that's genuinely inviting. The catch is on the palate: at 43% several tasters find it thin and diluted, with the wood flattening the fruit the nose promised. A vintage 2005 Bally agricole that noses better than it drinks, but stays easy and pleasant.

#7388 25.09.2026 - 28.09.2026 Attending the Whisky Live in Paris 2026 with a few good friends. We had a great time and it was nice to introduce them to this event which was a first for them. Quick notes while tasting. Fruits, roasted wood, caramel, chocolate, leather, floral, spice.

An agricole rum that starts with a nice woody, vanilla nose with notes of chocolate, spices, and fruit. On the palate, the woodiness takes over, making the juice very simple and not as developed as the nose suggests. The finish ends on the same slightly roasted woody note. A dry and diluted rum that could gain in complexity.

Very pleasant nose, fruity and a bit floral, light woodiness, you easily dip your nose into the glass because the alcohol is not present. On the palate, the fruitiness disappears to make way for the work of the cask, so rather a vanilla toffee woodiness accompanied by a bit of spice. Still easy to drink. The finish is quite average, agricultural on a slight woodiness and dried fruit.

A very nice Bally trash can from 2005. On the nose for me simply woody. On the palate, light notes of vanilla, cocoa, leather and toffee come through. And it's also slightly spicy. All in all very tasty.

Very light rum, the dilution is noticeable and marks the rum which in my opinion loses on the nose and taste. I have an open bottle at home, in the future I will definitely opt for a barrel strength variant.

The nose is charming. A well-marked woody Agricole, typical of Bally but always with a nice framework of candied fruits behind. On the palate it's a bit disappointing because the wood leaves no room for the rest and so it lacks complexity and indulgence.
