Most tasters land around "very close to the 36th release," just a touch more intense and roasted. Expect classic Caroni: petrol, leather, dark chocolate and dry cocoa, with red fruit and toffee softening the edges. A few call out real bitterness up front that fades; one found it "a little below" the 62.59 version. Dry, woody, and unmistakably Caroni.

Very similar to the 36th Release. In direct comparison, a tad more intense and roasty. And slightly less bitter notes.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Virtually on par with the yellow version in Navy Strength. Rather dry Caroni with subtle but very charming residual sweetness and plenty of barrel influence, which is undoubtedly intense but does not tip over into bitterness. Exceptionally good.

Almost identical to the 36th release, perhaps a bit more present and intense. Meanwhile, I get along better with the clearly present bitterness and do not find it annoying.

A very well balanced Caroni without the traditional rubber and tar notes. Lightly bitter but really well balanced and good ABV integration. Very nice and a long and warm finish.

Somehow a very round nose with a lot of banana, toffee, etc. 😋 Mouth is more typical for a 1994 vintage : dry with capuccino, dark chocolate, red fruits. A very nice Caroni but a little below 62.59° version 🤏

... Caroni is a distillery from Trinidad, producing at the time of its greatest glory rum, which was added at a ratio of 1:10 to the naval blend. It was too strong and strange to be pleasant on the tongue. In 2000, the distillery ceased production and closed. Only in 2010 did tasters appear who took a liking to the rum because of its special taste. And the interest grew. Caroni belongs to the category of "you need to try before you die" rums. I recommend it, Caroni is a truly unique rum.

Direct comparison between the 36th & 37th release HTR Guyana Stock. This rum is a little more intense on the nose. Not quite as "dirty" in taste compared to the 36th release. A very big difference in price, which can only be explained by the limited quantity. In terms of taste, however, the price is not worth it.

War sehr gespannt, da ich die Flasche vor dem Sample hatte. Der Geruch verspricht allerlei Früchte und ist sehr ausgewogen. Am Gaumen zuerst extrem bitter, was aber sehr schnell verschwindet und dann macht er auf. Früchte mit einer leichten Süße. In allem sehr gelungen, da muss die Flasche wohl auf.😋

I can pick up hints of the VSG style (not sure if it’s just my imagination, LOL), though they are rather subtle, yet still very intriguing. It sits atop an HTR base.
