CDI Diamond Guyana Sherry Cask 2007
Opinion lands mostly positive, with a couple of holdouts. Several tasters were relieved the sherry finish sits beside the Guyana rum instead of burying it — dried fruit, raisins, dates, dark chocolate and coconut macaroon, with cinnamon and leather. One found it just "etwas beliebig" (a bit random) and hot. At 57.2% it runs sharp; a few wished the alcohol were smoother.

I am once again pleasantly surprised by CDI! The sherry finish is clearly present, but does not overpower the rum and is well integrated. It's fun!

Tasting 19/4-24 Peters Vin. Nose: A lot is going on. Dried fruits and the sherry finish is very clear. Taste: Lots of dried fruits, raisins, dates,figs. And the sherry finish is very well integrated . Finish: Some driness, long and very delicious. The best rum of the evening..

sehr schöner & komplexer Guyana Rum. Das 4 Jahre Sherry cask finish ist gar nicht Mal so präsent wie man erwarten würde. schöne röstaromen, viel dunkle Schokolade, Kokosmakronen, Bratapfel, Brombeere und Johannisbeere, Früchtebrot und Zimt und Leder. im Abgang Tannine und viel Fass. alles in allem eine runde Sache... könnte nur etwas milder sein, der alkohol ist nicht ganz so perfekt eingebunden wie ich erwartet hätte. aber echt lecker!

The nose is clearly dominated by sherry alongside spicy fruit. Therefore slightly sulphurous, dried apricot, some grape. Mr. sour of green apple or pear. Only wood and smoke come through. On the palate, the sherry cask unfortunately overpowers the Guyana. The fruit moves a little more towards cherry. What remains is nutmeg spice, some wood and ... sherry. Not bad, but a little arbitrary.

Ausnahmsweise mal kein Finish, dass alles überlagert, aber leider trotzdem nicht wirklich gut. Sehr scharf im Mund, recht alkoholisch und vor allem dunkle Aromen (rostig, Trockenfrüchte und Holz) bringen keinen Geschmack, der mich überzeugt.
