27.03.2021 A nice Velier tasting thanks to my friend Cheng from Singapore. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Intense, wood, light roasted, fruity, orange, banana, faint smoke, ester. Palate Light oily, wood, light smoke, spice, warm, light berries, fruity, banana. Finish Medium to long and warm, wood, fruity, light orange, spice, faint chocolate.

Thanks to Johannes it was possible to make this small Birds Flight. In the race were 2xOWH, 5xLFCH (including the HV LFCH mixed) and 2xLROK. As a conclusion on my part, from LROK onwards they are more fun, the low ester fraction is fine. In my opinion, the Birds are not worth the money, but rather a collector's item. I don't really see any major differences.

I’m returning to this Ptáčkovin after a few months for the second time, and unfortunately it will cost it a few rating points because I have more to compare it to. Bitterness appears again, and a weird finish in the throat, again unnecessarily too polished. Still the best Ptáček I’ve tasted so far.

My first Hampden of this Bird series. Very nice light vanilla and sweet fruits nose without overwhelming esters and glues for once which is very refreshing for me. The taste is however notably estery and chemical with some fruits and spices. But overall I like it very much.

Bottle in CZ community advent calendar 2025 The rum was opened for ages, it could degrade the taste of the rum. EDIT: sip from second sample show it like nice Hampden ... Hampden, legendarni jamajska destilerka, ktera krome rumu produkuje take alkohol do parfemu. Ve vsech rumech z teto destilerky ucitite divoke estery, po kterych cely vas organizmus nasakne vuni zluteho tropickeho ovoce - manga, papaji, anansu, broskvi. Smells a bit of fruit and a bit of kanagom. First gentle, then it squeezes the tongue like a lemon.

A bit disappointing, especially considering the price. Compared to classic Hampdens there's a pinch of spice, taste and aroma are relatively muted. There are better ones on the market.

Read full review →If you were quick, it could also be bought in the Czech Republic at Warehouse #1 for less than 5,000 CZK and I think in this case the price makes sense. Now it is mostly sold only at auctions. I recommend it with all ten fingers.
