Actually, I'm not really into aging in wine barrels. In this one, the wine barrel is present but not too dominant. Round and yet complex. The low alcohol content suits the rum very well, doesn't feel diluted.

Nose: quite fine, citrus fruits, wood and spice. Light lemon zest with tangerine and some cherry, candied orange peel, as in fruit bread. Behind that, clearly a fine chocolate note. The spice might be cardamom, but only very little. And somehow there is some wine hidden at the back. Nice, fine nose, but could be more intense. Palate: quite light in my opinion due to too little ABV. The first thing I have is candied orange peel with a slight acidity, followed by fruit bread and a greener finish. Now comes the sugar cane. Almost a little flowery. The finish is slightly orangeat with sugar cane and some green branches. Unfortunately far too diluted to score points with me. Otherwise a nice aroma profile.

Once again a beautiful rhum rhum. Normally this is not my absolute favorite profile, but once again I like this Velier Bielle very much. A smooth, complex drop that knows how to please.

The nose is relatively sweet with vanilla, cinnamon and cookies, some caramel, wood, chocolate, wine and dried fruit. The palate simply lacks power due to the dilution. Overall, a fairly round and accessible easy sipping Agricole.

I could smell this one forever. The nose is amazing, chocolate pralines are jumping outside the glass and there is a consistency over time despite the low abv. Some wood and some caramel, that we can find also drinking, along with chocolate. Delving into the dram we can find also some tropical fruits.

This one made me think about a Caroni :-) The burnt rubber is there and overall a good rum. Not as fruity as the others but nice and spicy. Once rested its really nice.

The nose has aromas of beautiful, fruity fermentation. There's a well-concentrated grenadine, a hint of galette des rois and old wood! The rum has opened up completely, giving a harmonious nose. The palate is soft and greedy. The woodiness is balanced with a touch of acidity. The whole is deliciously mellow. The finish is not long enough to revel in the vanilla and licorice stick of one's childhood.

Great rum that even unfolds its potential at drinking strength. Probably one of the best I’ve had at this ABV so far. But unfortunately, the finish is a bit short. Nice one for an uncomplicated start to the evening.

Balanced rum, with well-integrated alcohol. Refined drink. Although not full proof, I liked it very much. On the nose, I perceive a licorice scent that I really like. Also great finish, vanilla but not too much.

On continue la dégustation des 5 Rhum Rhum Libération en version réduite. 👃 Ce 2017 offre un profil plus sur les fruits secs que ces prédécesseurs. Cela me fait penser à un Armagnac cépage Ugni Blanc. Des fruits secs (raisins, dattes), de l'eau de vie de mirabelles, des abricots et agrumes confits, un boisé bien présent avec 7 ans de vieillissement tropical. Ce nez dégage une belle gourmandise sur une combinaison de pâte d'amandes, de gâteau aux amandes, de miel, de vanille et d'épices de cuisine (cannelle, muscade). 😋 Plus chaude et intense que ces petites sœurs, c'est aussi ma bouche préférée. Déjà, boisé affirmé, épices, poivre vert, douceur caramélisée, un peu de fudge, fruits confits. On retrouve les fruits secs des eaux de vie de raisins. ⛳ Plus chaude et longue que ces sœurs, le boisé s'exprime, bois jeunes et noble, épices, chocolat, cuit léger, cire d'abeille légère, feuille de tabac. Séchée, amertume du zeste d'orange au chocolat noir.

N : à la fois sombre et fruité blanc. Gourmand et frais. Agrume orange. Cirage B : fidèle au nez avec complexité et profondeur. Légère âpretée, souffrée (fut vin cuit ?) et fraîcheur toujours là sur une finale qui dure sur orange citron salinité.

If it weren't an item now for collectors, it would be a rum to drink every day. It retains the Capovilla profile but the interaction with the wood is practically perfect. Too bad you can't find it around anymore
