Caramel, vanilla and dark chocolate pour out thick and sweet, with walnut and a dried-fruit sherry edge underneath. This is Spanish-style, soft, and clearly sweetened — most drinkers find it round and easy, a comfortable sipper or a cigar companion. The 40% leaves it a touch thin, and a few call it one-note. An easy entry rum that goes down without a fight.

One of my first biggest favorite of Sweet rums, better than Plantation XO. Great, definitelly recomanded for everyone. Sweet, string, fruity, with dark chocolate. Beautifull bottle, recommended for a gift .

Intense caramel, vanilla and mocha notes. Very sweet and heavy - syrupy but not overly sweet and still recognizable as rum. Overall the alcohol could be better integrated.

Caramel doesn't impress much and already predicts trouble. And it comes right after you taste this rum. Sugar, vanilla, caramel and then again caramel, vanilla, sugar. Not for me. Terribly sweet, it even made my face twist 😃 Edit: trying to finish the sample. This is really extreme. It's a sweetness like a liqueur. I need to fix my taste with some dry piece. Edit2: last time 5cl sample, this time 2cl from the 24DoR calendar and it seems much less sweet than I remember. Different batch or do I perceive taste differently?

Convinces with a rounded, well-aged profile of vanilla, caramel, dried fruits, cocoa, and fine oak spices. It feels balanced and pleasantly complex. The sweetness is present but mostly well integrated. A high-quality all-rounder with a good price-enjoyment ratio.

A Hispanic rum with attractive packaging. The nose focuses on sweet notes of caramel, burnt sugar, chocolate, vanilla and spices, but displays a slightly stronger temperament than usual, with dark aromas of wood, coffee and roasted notes. It's a little out of the ordinary for a ron. The ron is diluted and caramelized on the palate, with brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, spices, wood, a little dried fruit and hazelnut. It's simplistic, sweet but not too sickening. It's easy to drink, especially for beginners. The finish is short, on roasted, sweet notes, with a background of raisin. Perhaps one of the most drinkable Hispanic rums, but very expensive for what it offers.

Sample no.9 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. The nose is very inviting with notes of sweet caramel, chocolate and dried raisins. Palate is round and nice with tropical fruits, caramel and raisins. Outstanding rum!

A great representative of the "Spanish" style. Some fruit on the nose in the direction of raisins and sherry, more prominent are nutty aromas, especially walnut. Very similar on the palate, lots of nuts and dried fruit and of course the cask. A little sweeter and unfortunately a little weak at 40%, more would be great here!

Very easy to go to sipping rum. One of the entries into the diversity of rum for me. A sweetness in the nose, and very flavorful, with notes of butterscotch, vanilla and tropical fruits. Good for almost anyone, and works well with desserts

Here is a Cartavio from Peru. On the nose already very woody but also chocolate and vanilla can be detected. On the palate, chocolate and coffee dominate. Alcohol is quite well integrated. A solid rum.

Sample no 9 of the 24 days of rum 2022. Fancy sweet rum. Reminds me of Dos Maderas 5+5 or Selección for roughly half a price. Very nicely balanced sweet rum. Hints of coffee, toffee, nougat, caramel and raisins, maybe sherry. It is not overly sweet even though it is rather sweet a lot but thanks to how it is balanced it is not a problem. If I would have a chance to grab it in some discounted price below 40€, I would go for it. Otherwise it does not make sense I would rather go for Dos Maderas.

Very sweet rum that doesn't impress with anything. On the palate, I only get caramel and vanilla, and the same in the aroma. Not bad for sipping, but I don't think I'd ever buy it. Even cola didn't help much.

Woody, cask-like. There is 29g/L and yet it is not that sweet. On the nose we find the characteristics of Ron, caramel, woody, toffee, chocolate. On the palate we find the same characteristics and a peppery side which is not too disturbing.

This is very sweet and delicate rum. Tones of vanilla, earth and tropical fruits are notable in smell. In the taste is definitely vanilla, oak, sherry, caramel. The aftertaste is sweet with cinnamon. If you are starting with rums this is definitely a great choice.

On the nose, gummy bears, peach, menthol, spicy oak, and a certain alcohol note. The rum is copper-colored in the glass and leaves an oily impression. On the tongue, similar aromas as on the nose, but with a very pronounced alcoholic sharpness. Unfortunately, the finish is also dominated by the alcoholic sharpness. So the rum couldn't really convince me. A pity.
