Cartavio XO
Caramel, vanilla and dark chocolate pour out thick and sweet, with walnut and a dried-fruit sherry edge underneath. This is Spanish-style, soft, and clearly sweetened — most drinkers find it round and easy, a comfortable sipper or a cigar companion. The 40% leaves it a touch thin, and a few call it one-note. An easy entry rum that goes down without a fight.

How does Cartavio XO taste?
Aggregated from 204 community reviews.
Soft, sweet Spanish-style sipper with nutty depth Most owners find it a pleasant, well-balanced sweet sipper — an easy Spanish-style pour. The recurring caveat: it's sweetened and light, so purists wanting depth may want more.

One of my first biggest favorite of Sweet rums, better than Plantation XO. Great, definitelly recomanded for everyone. Sweet, string, fruity, with dark chocolate. Beautifull bottle, recommended for a gift .

Intensive Karamell, Vanille und Mokka Noten. Sehr süß und schwer - sirupartig aber jetzt nicht übertrieben süß und noch als Rum erkennbar. Insgesamt könnte der Alkohol aber etwas besser integriert sein.

This is a very sweet rum with nice fruits and spices. I like this rum for sweet desserts and making chocolate rum cake.

Karamelová moc nenadchne a už věští průšvih. A ten přijde v zápětí, když tento rum ochutnáte. Cukr, vanilka, karamel a pak pro změnu karamel, vanilka, cukr. Nic pro mě. Strašně sladké, až mi to křivilo hubu 😃 Edit: pokus o dopití vzorku. To je fakt extrém. Je to sladkostí vyloženě likér. Musím si spravit chuť nějakým suchým kouskem. Edit2: minule 5cl vzorek, tentokrát 2cl z kalendáře 24DoR a přijde mi to mnohem méně sladké než co pamatuju. Jiný batch nebo mám tak jiné vnímání chutě?

Wonderful rum
Review by TheRhumhoe
A Hispanic rum with attractive packaging. The nose focuses on sweet notes of caramel, burnt sugar, chocolate, vanilla and spices, but displays a slightly stronger temperament than usual, with dark aromas of wood, coffee and roasted notes. It's a little out of the ordinary for a ron. The ron is diluted and caramelized on the palate, with brown sugar, vanilla, chocolate, spices, wood, a little dried fruit and hazelnut. It's simplistic, sweet but not too sickening. It's easy to drink, especially for beginners. The finish is short, on roasted, sweet notes, with a background of raisin. Perhaps one of the most drinkable Hispanic rums, but very expensive for what it offers.

Solid pleasant rum. One does nothing wrong with.

The taste is complex and delicate, with notes of dried fruits, vanilla, walnut and sherry! The taste ends balanced, slightly spicy - quite delicious actually.
Review by Rumpalumpa
A great representative of the "Spanish" style. Some fruit on the nose in the direction of raisins and sherry, more prominent are nutty aromas, especially walnut. Very similar on the palate, lots of nuts and dried fruit and of course the cask. A little sweeter and unfortunately a little weak at 40%, more would be great here!

Sample no.9 of the 24 days of rum calendar 2022. The nose is very inviting with notes of sweet caramel, chocolate and dried raisins. Palate is round and nice with tropical fruits, caramel and raisins. Outstanding rum!

Very easy to go to sipping rum. One of the entries into the diversity of rum for me. A sweetness in the nose, and very flavorful, with notes of butterscotch, vanilla and tropical fruits. Good for almost anyone, and works well with desserts

Hier ein Cartavio aus Peru. In der Nase bereits sehr holzig aber auch Schokolade und Vanille sind zu erkennen. Im Geschmack dominiert dann die Schokolade und der Kaffee. Alkohol ganz gut eingebunden. Ein solider Rum.

Read full review →All of which whilst far from wonderful are better than this. Its pretty shocking really and worrying that people think they are enjoying a fine rum with this. It's just appealing to our love and weakness for sugary food and drink. Dreadful stuff. [caption id="attachment_1469" align="alignleft" width="81"] 1 star[/caption]

And again and again and again. I feel like I have drunk this cover of a mediocre pop song over and over again. Too expensive for cola and way too uninteresting for sipping. This may have virtue for the cigar crowd but somehow I have doubts
