Here's the twist: this is a Jamaican that plays down the funk instead of leaning into it. The added sugar turns the alcohol edge into honey, so you get banana, apricot and a woody, grappa-like note rather than heavy esters. The nose is good with some funkiness, so it proves its Jamaican tag. On the palate you get fresh fruity taste with tropical fruits and banana, and some spiciness at the end which is not too overwhelming. Aftertaste is okay, but both taste and finish are quite sweet due to around 16g/l of sugar (as per my readings). I don't regret buying it since it has that fresh fruity and a bit funky taste, but I don't see me buying it again due to so much added sugar. Price 38€.

Bought and finished a bottle of this rum in Spain. It’s a blend from several distilleries in Jamaica that’s much too bland for me. It’s probably a good introduction to rum from Jamaica for a beginner. The nose is fruity and flowery with scents of banana, plum, apricot, elderflower and chamomile. At the palate it tastes a little burnt and it’s balanced, fruity and sweet with flavors of apricot, pear, raisins, grapes and honey. In the end it’s rather dry. The finish is short to medium long.

Really strange that the diluted and lightly sweetened version here simply performs significantly worse than the overproof version. I don't understand the 15g dosage here at all, so slight deductions.

Rums from Clarendon and Worthy Park. 10 g of sugar added per liter. It's an introduction for those who are not familiar with Jamaicans. It is well made and consensual. However, if you like Jamaicans very focused on esters, move on.

Quite normal average rum from Compagnie des Indes. Also goes down the throat well. Tastes slightly woody to me, like many other rums ;-) Well, the finish is also very short. You can bring it.

Lots of barique on the nose, grape and chocolate. Consistent on the palate. Relatively good integration of alcohol. A flawless rum, a little bitter on the finish but pleasant to drink. A little too sweet for me, though. Still, a bit too much

Meine RumRatings Review von vor 4 Jahren: In der Nase ist schon direkt bemerkbar, dass es ein Jamaika Rum ist ohne das er aggressiv oder intensiv wird. Ein guter Einstieg, wenn man vorsichtig an die Welt der Jamaika Rums heran gehen will. Am Gaumen ist der Rum mild aber angenehm fruchtig. Auch eine milde Süße ost dabei. Tropische Frucht, Banane, etwas Vanille und minimal auch etwas Ester. Der Abgang ist eher kurz. Der Rum ist keine Ester Bombe. Ich würde den Ester Gehalt auf deutlich unter 100 gr/hlpa schätzen. Für Einsteiger eine sehr gute Wahl. Für Kenner eher langweilig oder zum Mixen.

Very pleasant nose - overall the whole bottling seems to focus on accessibility, and it succeeds very well. Lots of honey and wood, esters are very subtle, but Jamaica is still clearly recognizable. In the foreground, however, the focus is on fruit brandy/grappa. In terms of taste, the added sugar suits it well, takes away the alcoholic sharpness and turns the sweetness into honey. However, this may be the biggest drawback for some, as it is comparatively sweet. Very nicely integrated fruit liqueur note. Rightly in the CDI core range.

Young Jamaican on the nose and palate. Too bad for the added sugar, you can smell it. Not crazy, I used it to introduce Jamaica to friends who are afraid of degrees. +0.5 for value for money. What can you find for 40 bucks these days?

Spannende Abwechslung an der Nase. Am Gaumen zu Beginn alkoholisch, wechselt der Rum schnell zum Honig, welcher sich dominierend hält. Für einen Jamaikaner noch sehr human in der Ausprägung der Aromen.

Some burnt rubber, coconut. Dark amber pour. Sweetness caramel in the mouth. Oak. Some banana probably. Had a glass of this at Honi Honi in Edmonton. Was better than the Rum Nation Jamaican I had just before this.
