The last one for today and the clear winner. Fruity on the nose (pineapple) and the ester naturally comes to the fore. Also fruity on the palate (pineapple and citrus fruits). You can hardly taste the alcohol. Top rum 👍
Alkohol ist sehr gut integriert. Leicht cremig am Gaumen mit tollen tropischen Fruchtnoten. Insgesamt sind Süße und Säure gut ausbalanciert. Holzige und rauchige Noten bleiben trotz des Alters eher im Hintergrund. Sicher nicht der komplexeste Hampden, aber trotzdem eine sehr schöne Abfüllung im unteren Ester-Bereich.
#4533 20.12.2023 Swapped myself to some nice SMWS samples and I'm definitely going to get my hands on some more. This is a pretty good Hampden and the price at release was pretty good. Fruity and medium ester level rum with a light smoky note. The palate is warm and fresh with a nice minty touch in the back. The finish is long, lightly dry and warm with nice fruits. The empty glass has some caramel and faint polish/glue.
The nose immediately suggested charred pineapple and smoky bacon Frazzles. Lots of salty pork scratchings, chilli oil, soy glaze, hot smoked game meats, freshly chopped ginger and squid ink. The mouth was powerful, rich and punchy. Lots of smoked vanilla extract, sweetened antiseptic, smoky wort, bacon jam with chilli, sugary black coffee, pumpkin seed oil, natural tar extract and old hessian in a dunnage warehouse. With water there was lots of yellow American mustard, spicy pepperoni, flash-fried calamari, ash-rolled goat cheese, smoked mint and tarry creel nets.
