Three years in cask rounds off the raw cane-juice edge and adds fruit and a touch of sweetness — pineapple, citrus marmalade, a smoky roasted finish. Several tasters blind-guessed a mid-ester Jamaican from Trelawny rather than Haiti. There's still a "dirty" cheesy funk lurking, but it stays polite.

#6679 22.04.2026 Relaxing with a few evening samples while watching Body Cam on Max. This is a reallyu nice rum with a good price tag in mymind. Nice and fruity with light ester and some caramel. Overall pretty good balance and I like the spices.

Thanks to RumTaTa. It's amazing what the "cheese foot" can become through storage. But it can't compete with the 22-month-old. It's great how ageing adds fruit and a subtle sweetness and somewhat tames the very special taste of the unaged one.

Number 6 from the community tasting. Thanks Rumtata! Jamaica from Haiti - blindly I would have packed this into the Mid-East range from Trewlany. The rum is fruity and very round. This is delicious, but also a bit unspectacular because the Clairin-specific but very much in the background.

The nose is dominated by apple, freshly picked and not washed with vegetal notes.In the mouth pleasantly sweet citrus jam with toasty hints and a touch of menthol which continues to hold in the finish.In between emerges here and there always a cheese note, does not have to be for me, but is exciting.All in all a really tasty Clairin

The first nose surprises with rancid butter, evoking associations with the Hampden Great House 2020. Then ham and smoke on the palate! The smoked ham dominates the finish. I only knew this kind of profile from whisky before! Alcoholic sharpness is never noticeable, very good rum!

You really have to guess Haiti and clairin blind here. After some time in the glass, the pineapple in the nose really comes through and leads us to Jamaica. A bit dirty remains in the background. On the palate then somewhat one-sided citrus. But in the finish present again with roasted tones. Very decent. Many thanks to RumTaTa and all participants in the RumX Clairin Tasting. It was fun and finally the rum tasted good again after Corona 🥃
