The nose has a quite strong coconut husk note. There's also a similar smell to the dried fruit mix in a Christmas mince pie. The palate hits hard with tropical fruits and orange peel before mellowing into prunes and a touch of nutmeg. The finish becomes almost creamy. Sweet but also quite drying. Overall a top notch rum. Sweet and fruity without being over the top. A quality, crowd pleaser.

Another great one from Mr. Seales and Foursquare that’s a little bit better than the 40% version. The nose is fruity, woody and spicy with an aroma of vanilla. At the palate and during the medium long finish it’s round, fruity, spicy and woody with flavors of vanilla, oak and tropical fruits.

Minder lekker dan XO. Vervelende nasmaak

Compared to the Doorly XO, the nose is directly a bit smoother and more elegant. More chocolate and tropical fruit! Overall, however, similar. In the mouth a little more on the spicy and woody side, but still very tasty and mild. Also a rum with a good price. Now I'm still curious about the Doorly 14, which I will eventually get :-)

Similar to the 40% and virtually impossible to taste the difference. A little more bite so a few points extra.

8,8:On the nose, we are on a rum typical for Barbados . The woodiness is omnipresent but delicious, slightly gluey/funky. Aromas of vanilla, orange, banana, coconut, almonds, hazelnuts and a roasted notes and some nice marzipan form the aromatic profile of this rum. It invites us to continue the tasting. After airing the tobacco (cigar) is also felt. 8,5:On the palate we are of course on a dry rum (which tends to become even more so as the seconds pass). The oak is very present and accentuates this slight astringency, bourbon fruity notes come second. A note of orange, caramel, even coffee, vanilla and a touch of pepper compliment this woodiness. Notes of iodine, pancetta somewhere at the end of sipping. 8,5:The finish is long and relatively supple, but dry at the same time. In addition to the barrel, notes of vanilla and nutmeg make this beautiful experience last.

06.2024 First impression: wonderful golden color, friendly and inviting, small legs Nose: banana, sweet fruit, wood Palate: tropical fruits, noticeable 43% but still well integrated, delicious cask Finish: strong, medium length, still a hint of fruit Overall impression: great after-work sipper for a successful day, I have raised my original rating from 7.5 to 7.8.

I really enjoyed this 12 years Doorly’s. It is a nice bridge between XO and 14 years and really worth the money. I liked the nice curtain on the glass, well balanced and rounded taste with woody and tropical fruit tones. Finish was dry and complex. I really recommend this Foursquare.

+1 pt

On the nose, it is woody with beautiful spices. We find coconut, chocolate, banana and vanilla. It is rather in the restraint but seductive as nose. In mouth, it is very greedy and even sweet. A lot of sweetness with dried fruits, dark chocolate and tobacco. Fruits are also part of the party! The traditional notes of the house do not fail: vanilla, coconut, licorice, honey ... The finish is moderately short on chocolate! In conclusion, for 50€, it is a great success, it is greedy. A nice gateway to Foursquare at a price and voltage very soft ...

Doorly's 12er immediately invites you to enjoy its pleasant aroma with its combination of raisin sweetness, toasty cask, coconut, chocolate and vanilla. In the mouth, however, a rather unspectacular, bland woodiness develops through prolonged chewing, which leads to a dry and unsustainable finish due to the dilution to 43%. A pleasant and easy-drinking, light Foursquare, but one that is noticeably inferior to its 14-year-old "big brother".

My suggestion for all the newcomers. Should be in every bar or home bar

I was having a big expectations which were not fulfilled. Don't get me wrong this is great rum but hearing about how awesome it is all the time, I was expecting more. Now, onto the nose- vanilla, lot's of wood; oak to be precise. Palate- Oily, round sweetness of vanilla and oak barrel with slight hint of banana at the end and a bit of spiciness. Finish is medium long. Really nice rum if you have a chance to buy it around 30€. I bought mine for 28 for which I consider it an excelent rum for such price. I will need to revisit the review and the rating in the future. Highlight is the mid-long finish. I will directly compare it with XO which for some reason I like more. Retasting: Direct comparison with Doorlys XO and Seales. Seales is a little bit sharper than both Ds. Surprisingly enough I thought Seales would be better than my favorite XO or that it is at least on the same level but no, due to its spiciness it is my least favorite of the three. My rating: 1. Doorlys XO 2. Doorlys 12 3. R.L. Seales but if I would go by the nose 1. 12YO 2. XO 3. Seales the Seales is spicy even on the 👃 XO is a. Bit alcoholic and 12YO is absolutely lovely sweet and heavy on the woody on the nose. For next comparison I will also include rhe 14YO Doorlys. Raising rating to 74 again. :D Tasted ofter AM SC 2001 & 2005 and it is good but not up to SC qualities. 7.4 is absolutely spot on for me. Btw interesting bitterness mixed with sour tones in this one.
