One taster called it "atypical and exceptional," and that split personality is the whole point — it sits somewhere between an agricole and a molasses rum. Grassy, herbal, loaded with wood, spice and tobacco, with a dense oily body and dark-chocolate depth. The 57% is well integrated. This is something different, for me anyway! It's my first try of a rum from Bielle and it's quite different from something molasses based. Quite herbal, grassy, and a lot of spice. It's quite complex, I can taste some wood as well. It's got a slightly bitter strange side taste, not 'off' just different to what I am used to. Quite a rare rum, more for collecting these days I suspect😄

Tasted against RX24702 from Distilia and RX314 from Velier. Very good rum, but in my opinion it can't keep up with either of them in direct comparison, somehow too musty with too much alcohol, which is obviously due to the use of a wine cask. Tasted on its own, it is certainly an experience, but here in comparison it lags somewhat behind.

This is another very rare bottle and the content only has one flaw, the bitterness and black tea is far too dominant basically destroying what could be a truly perfect rum. A few drops of water can't smooth out the dominance.

The rum cannot contain all its strength. 1-2 years of additional maturation in a mild climate and it would be perfect. Great!

Already in the aroma for me is very dominant wood, roots and a little earthiness. On the palate there is grass, tobacco, black tea with wood in the background. Perfectly to the integrated alcohol with a more than pleasant finish. The overall finish is spoiled by an over the top bitterness.

Nose is musty and full of mothballs. Old wet carpet and some slightly mouldy tropical fruit - this should be fun. Mouth is somewhat reminiscent of the nose, not for me immediately, complexity and funk but a mouldy undertone that carrier into a sweet back of the mouth. The finish is soft and short, caramel and apple. It’s an interesting rum and in between an agricole and molasses rum but doesn’t quite tick the boxes for me. Real sweetness which just about means it works but not my style

I will preface this by saying that my tasting comes from a half-filled sample, for 2cl. I kept it 5 years before drinking it--it definitely requires some oxygenation in the glass. The nose is the best part of this rum, it is very nuanced. It evolves for a long time in the glass, it is particularly oily and dense. The palate is more restrained, in comparison. It is very concentrated and chewy. Only on the finish does a bit of a bitter black tea note emerge, which makes me lower the rating a bit. Nothing overdone, but after an hour of tasting it is noticeable. It is much more fruity (apricot and orange) than I thought. Lots of tobacco, especially in an empty glass. Overall it shows very good balance, however, which makes tasting a very pleasant experience. I sniffed the empty glass for a long time, really great
