Pour it into a daiquiri or a highball and this Puerto Rican white does its job; sip it neat and there isn't much there. Charcoal-filtered and light, it's mostly neutral alcohol with faint vanilla, a little young wood and a touch of sweetness. One taster reckoned it's what "old Bacardi blancas wish they'd be" — clean, but no real profile.

06.12.2024 The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting First of all, many thanks to Artur for the extreme effort and for sharing such old rums at all. Apart from a few exceptions, the rums themselves weren't really that great, BUT I still really enjoyed it, because you don't get to taste rums like this any more as a normal mortal and I find all this background knowledge that Artur shared incredibly interesting. I really take my hat off to him. Big respect!

Tasting of Puerto Rico rums by Artur. A fresh and light nose with alcohol, discreet fruits and a floral side. The first mouthfeel is diluted and here too you feel the neutral alcohol, few fruits, vanilla and vegetal notes. Very little sweetness but not quite dry. The finish is obviously short with a sweet side at the very end.

Entry-level rum from Puerto Rico and a good representative of activated charcoal filtered "white" aged rum. Not badly done and still better than various Bacardis, overall more something to make the cheapest drinks possible. Not a highlight but solid and drinkable and above all not harsh.

The liquid History of Puerto Rico Tasting. From nose to finish light vanilla, some sweetness and young wood. Alcohol not too penetrating. Nothing outstanding in taste - a rum without its own flavor for mixing.

Puerto Rico Set Nr. 1: Some nuts and vanilla on the nose. Pleasant with no alcoholic bite. Reminds me of Cuba on the palate with quite some vanilla and sweetness. Reasonable smooth. Not bad, yet I‘d see no use for this despite a low proof drink. Cheers to Artur for curating this set!

Coconut with disgusting alcohol. ... From France I bought a crate of 80 samples from one of the big rum supporters. All from the sixties and seventies. I expect nothing but swill. But hey - everything should be tried. Experience priceless. And with five people it's a bit more fun. 2025-02-17
