Really like it, thinks that it’s getting better and better for everytime I taste it. The nose is fruity, woody, nutty and round with scents of dried fruits and vanilla. At the palate it’s fruity, spicy, woody, round, smoky, balanced and elegant with flavors of dried fruits, leather and vanilla. The finish is medium long.

My RumRatings review from 6 years ago: First off, the 1824 was my first online order around 2012-2013 and one of my first "better" rums, sparking my love for Trinidad rums. Back then, absolutely top for me. Loved it. The Angostura 1824 has a nice mix of sweetness and smoke on the nose. The alcohol sharpness fades after a few minutes. When drinking, you immediately taste sweet tropical fruits and vanilla from the oak wood. Woody smoky aromas linger on the tongue and wrap around the existing sharpness, which isn’t unpleasant yet. Medium length, the rum says goodbye with a slightly sweet note and pleasant cask notes. The Angostura 1824 is a rum that doesn’t get boring. For the price of about 50 euros, it’s good to drink and doesn’t have to hide. The alcohol could be a bit milder. One of the rums I still wanted to buy again. But only the old version. Bottle design and the "Hand crafted" promise make it more attractive than the current successor. But then there was also the Angostura scandal and you wonder how credible it all really is. So better try other rums!
